Re: Ramp Start
The wing-man starts his jet. How do you do ramp start in training mode. When I select takeoff training mission it takes me right to the runway and it doesn't let me choose how I want to start. Thanks for you help man, hopefully I figure it out soon. I have to be missing something, I dont have time this weekend but when I have time I will post the procedure I am using and maybe we can find something wrong with it.

Re: Ramp Start
Hey Guy's,
I just got this game yesterday and so far i'm having more fun starting the plane (hitting real buttons) up then flying it (I have yet to go out and kill something. I used then Flash demo and I FOUND the Idle Indent switch! spent a couple hours looking for it. lol The reason your JFS wont move is your throttle is not at idle. At least I hope this helps. I was having issues geting into the ramp start (want to learn to fly from the ground up) so i had gotten the update and it solved the problem. looking forward to MDF and radar next.

Re: Ramp Start
In the training mission, when you see the T-25:00 countdown, you select ramp (the first option). That will take you to the ramp start.
Welcome van matre!

Re: Ramp Start
Thanks guys. Finally got the engines started, almost got it fully operational but I couldn't find a few nav buttons. I will figure them out eventually, thanks for your help.

Re: Ramp Start
NOOB Question:
I must be missing something obvious here...
I've downloaded the SP3 Ramp Start flash utility and I've tried following the Ramp Start tutorial, but still no luck getting the engine started. Here's what happens:
I get all the way to the part where the RPM gauge hits 25%, I click the Idle Detent button on panel 'C', I advance the throttle to 50%, and the RPM gauge goes up to maybe 26% and just stays there until the JFS stops...
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

Re: Ramp Start
Try doing this.
JFS Start to 25%.
Throttle to 50% then hit the throttle indent switch.
Throttle to full.
Once the RPM goes above 40% throttle to idle.
That should work...if it doesn't than your missing a step somewhere.

Re: Ramp Start
This is driving me nuts! I've tried the following a million times in both tutorial and campaign with no luck:
1. set parking brake
2. switch main power on (two clicks)
3. ext lights norm
4. collision lights on
5. wing/tail and fuselage bright
6. wing/tail and fuselage flashing
7. master fuel on
8. engine feed norm
9. verify epu set to norm
10. verify fuel qty set to norm
11. throttle set to idle
12. set jfs to start 2
13. wait for rpm to reach 25%
14. set throttle to 50%
15. press ALT-I
16. set throttle to 100%
17. wait.....
18. wait.....
19. wait.....
The RPM gauge never goes above 26%!
I'm running that latest version (1.0.3) on the following:
WinXP Pro SP2 (with Auto-Updates)
1 GB RAM
Radeon 9800 Pro (128 MB)
AMD Athlon XP 2800

Re: Ramp Start
It's got something to do with the 1.0.3 patch...
I tried installing Falcon on another machine for grins without the patch, and I can get it started in campaign mode just fine. After applying the 1.0.3 patch, it no longer works....

Re: Ramp Start
Hmm I haven't had any problems with ramp starts in 1.03 Have you tried rocking your throttle back and forth after you click the throttle detent?

Re: Ramp Start
OK, It's a combination of 1.0.3 and Logitech Wingman Force 3D joysticks... after applying 1.0.3 I have completely lost throttle control from my joystick...

Re: Ramp Start
Just to make sure, with the new key mapper did you go in to the key mapper to see if your throttle is mapped to the throttle?

Re: Ramp Start
Quick Update.... If you use the Auto-Detect feature under the controller setup, it will re-detect the throttle on the joystick ;-) It worked fine under 1.0.1, but I guess it just lost it's mind after the 1.0.3 install!

It's actualy on the throttle, hardly visible.
