Just as an after thought, if you change the BARCAP Patrol time to less than that assigned on the mission map steerpoint menu, the first homebound steerpoint will proberly turn red. Just highlight the red steerpoint and decrease the TOS minute time. This will increase the airspeed for that steerpoint. Just keep adjusting till you get a decent airspeed and the steerpoint will turn white.
Also, after you have set hack timer, just return the DED(RTN/SEQ switch). The timer will be displayed under the clock and you can then change comms,etc.
Press SEQ again and the wind speed and direction will be displayed under the steerpoint.
