    Jex and I flew a mission yesterday where we sent back our AI wingmen and they do say LTMF not LGMF. And I have no idea what the heck that means either????

    There are are number of abbreviated terms in military and general aviation that are actually slang. Much of it came about because one never knew who else was listening on the frequency. Also because aviators felt the bravo terms didn't quite capture the moments.

    When you've instructed a wingman to RTB (Return to Base), the "I'm LTMF" response stands for "I'm 'L'anding 'T'his 'M'other 'F'****"

    Others you may hear:

    "Foxtrot Uniform" = 'F'*** 'U'p = meaning broken or very dead i.e. "Two, Advise Rawr Foxtrot Uniform" = This is Flight #2 and my radar warning receiver is broken.
    "Tango Uniform" = 'T'*ts 'U'p = meaning broken
    "LGMF" = 'L'ong 'G'one 'M'other 'F'**** = Yep GATORMAN (above message) was exactly right on LGMF
    "SNAFU" = 'S'ituation 'N'ormal... 'A'll 'F'*** 'U'p
    "BM" = 'B'ig 'M'otherf**** = usually used for the S&R helo (H-3) that saves me when I crash into the ocean.
    "Charlie Foxtrot" = 'C'luster 'F'***
    "FM" = 'F'***'in 'M'agic = usually used when you have something that just works or just worked but you don't know why
    "Whiskey Charlie" = 'W'ho 'C'ares

    tons of others...

    Cheers.

    Here's a good site for terms for the "pilot as a second language" impaired such as me.

    My pleasure, sir. I'm glad I'm here to-- great group of dedicated people much like general aviation. With work and a lot of luck, I'll soon be a useful aerial combatant in addition to spouting trivia.
