    Interesting times

There is an old Asian proverb that says "I hope you live in 'interesting' times."

Last night was one of them.

Flight lead was [Our Lord and Saviour] Fuzzy, #2 was Shawn, I was in the third seat, and Boogieman was 4. We were tasked with destroying the runway at Onch'on. Each had 9 durandals, 1 and 2 had 3 82's just for fun and Myself and 4 had a Magnum.

At about 12 miles from target, I was painted by AAA radar, and let my Magnum fly. Boogie took out the search radar at the target site. On the ingress from launching the magum, I took AAA pretty badly, and had to limp the rest of the mission. I dropped my durandals, althout they didn't hit, I suspect because I was flying with "the ball" comfortably nestled on the far right side. Fuzzy, Shawn and Boogie all did a phenominal job at killing the runway.

We all egressed, and Fuzzy was playing decoy to keep the sams off the rest of us. He did a nice job, because when I try to play decoy, I never live.

As I made my descent to final, my sled only got more squirrley to fly, and I had to hold left stick and right pedal, and landed with the nose pointing more toward the local McDonalds than the other end of the runway. I have done some crosswind landings in a real Cessna 172, but this was rediculous. I managed to keep it on the runway (which had dissappeared from a server glitch) and when the nose wheel touched down, I guess it was bent too, because I could only turn left in varying degrees.

This was one of the most demanding/entertaining missions I have been on. I was amazed that Fuzzy dodged all those SAMs, and I managed to keep my sled in the air. Boogie I think was the best of us all, because the bad guys acted like they didn't even see him (How did you do that?)

Great flight guys, I look forward to flying with you all again.

P.S. Have you ever been in a Turkish Prision? LOL

    Re: Interesting times

I went into teamspeak and saw boogie online so I tried to ask if he had time to do a training mission but he was afk. Shortly after, Fuzzy showed up and I told him my dilemma about Boogie being afk and being the resourceful person he is, Fuzzy turned on the boogie signal (music through teamspeak) and lo and behold it worked.
Anyway, boogie took me up and we did a training mission on CCIP and CCRP bombing. I learned a whole bunch of stuff (for example if youre at full AB and only going 300 kts and you cant figure out why, check your air brake).
Then we went into the mission to destroy the airfield. I didn't do anything during the air to air engagement except not die, but the bombing run went really well.
I had a great time guys, awesome mission. And thanks for the training flight Boogie!

Excellent AA report Ivan. Yea, that was a great mission. Lots of fun and all pilots really demonstrated considerable skill (and, as awlays) a little luck) in the air. I don't know if it is just me, but it seems like the missions we have been having since Boogie installed the scripfile on the server are a lot more fun and and interesting and a lot less chaotic. Which isn't to say they are easier, because they are not... but the overall scene in the air is more logical. Or maybe it is just... I dunno... what the French call a little ... hmm.. I don't know what (Someone get back to me on that).

    Good times!

That script file, in addition to saving the campaign and stopping the clock, also automatically grants me 10 A-A kills and 10 A-G kills every hour, whether I'm flying or not. Also, it allows me to press the "ctrl+shift+alt+tab+`+delete" supersecret key combo to enable a Klingon cloaking device. These are the secrets to my success!

    ROFL Boogie!

Unbenownst to you, but benownst to me, is the fact that Squid recently secretly installed a 1 MW MicroWarp Drive in his F-16, and can RTB back to base in under 8.5 seconds, regardless of his fuel state. But the joke is on both of you, because whenever you think you are flying with me, you are, in truth, really flying with a Mark 3 solid state hologram, which looks like me, acts like me, and tells bad jokes very poorly just like I do, but is, in fact, not me at all. Muhahaha!

Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

    Re: Interesting times

Always have to one-up me, dontcha Fuzzy? Wait until you get a load of the new script file. I will appear in the game not as just another F-16. but as an archangel. I will be able to smite all mine enemies using lightning and hellfire. If I miss, which is unlikely, I will be able to reverse the spinning of the globe and go back in time. Then I will hit mine enemies doubly hard. I will be able to fully populate the server with pilots of my choice on a whim. Yes, you could be watching reruns of Walker Texas Ranger one minute, and the next you will be flying as my wingman. Also I will be able to play Root Beer Tapper in the right MFD.

    Re: Interesting times

    Hmm,

When you are flying with me, I am ......well......just me.

I can use 12 Mk 82's to kill............... a lot of nothing.................... maybe a dust mite, and a mole or two.

I can also summon the awesome power of my mighty pencil to write down prescision steerpoints to further decreace my odds of killing any thing that was previously undamaged.

And last but not least, My server script can automagically cause the ATC to say things like "Falcon 32, click, click, runway, click, click." and cause them to say "Abort approach" any time I have less than 200 lbs of fuel onboard.
