Re: One More Time - BFDC Night
My apologies. It should be EST and technically because of my location my time zone would be EDST.

Re: One More Time - BFDC Night
My only issue with Tuesday is that usually my wife has a function on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. Normally it isn't a problem but she just got a puppy and he has to be watched so he doesn't get destructive. I try shutting him in my computer room but all he does is whine and it drives me nuts.

The only issue might be if Apo doesn't show up there aren't many other BF Admins anymore. I do have a notebook at home that I can at least use TS and BFRM on. It won't play BF1942 very well. I could watch my wife's dog and still keep a handle on things like booting people, changing maps, etc. by using TS.

Re: One More Time - BFDC Night
I usually get most of my stuff from FilePlanet but then I am a paying member so I don't have to wait in line. Even the public servers are quick from what I remember.

Sure, just jump on TeamSpeak and someone will help you. I bet you thought: What an idiot. I can't get on TeamSpeak. But then you start to realize that it was my poor attempt at humor.

Then click submit and it should say Click here to login. If all goes well, you should be on the TeamSpeak server.
I am not sure if it will add the server to your servers list if you join from the website. If it doesn't, just follow the instructions in the Joining the TG TeamSpeak Server below. You may want to follow the Joining the TG TeamSpeak Server instructions anyway, it is up to you.
It sounds like you have TeamSpeak installed. My assumption is that you have your headphones and mic plugged into the same sound card. If you don't use headphones and only have one sound card, you could get feedback that echoes forever. If you plan on plugging your mic into a separate sound card, let me know and I can go through that as well. The advantage to using two different sound cards is that you can still get your sounds out of your speakers and you don't have to wear a headset.
One thing to determine is if you are going to use the Voice Activation feature(you talk and it opens your mic) or if you are going to use a Push to Talk key sequence. This decision should be made before you connect to a TeamSpeak server and is purely a personal decision. Whatever you decide, perform the following steps:
Setting up TeamSpeak before Joining
1. Start TeamSpeak.
2. Click on Settings.
3. Click on Sound Input/Output Settings.
4. The Output Volume is just that. How loud are the TeamSpeak sounds going to be. Keep in mind that you want to be able to hear it over your game.
5. The Voice Send Method is where you set how you will talk. If you want to use Push to Talk, click the Set button and then press a key on the keyboard. It will assign that key your Push to Talk key. You will have to hold down this key whenever you want to talk. When setting this key, make sure you choose one that won't interfere with your games.
6. If you use the Voice Activation option, the slider bar determines at what volume your mic opens.
7. The Activate local test mode allows you to test your settings without being on a server. You click the button and then use your Push to Talk key or start speaking depending on your Voice Send Method. If you use Voice Activation and you start talking but the little green light doesn't turn on and you don't hear yourself, then you need to adjust the slider under Voice Activation until the green light turns on. It is a matter of fine tuning until you get it so that it comes on at the appropriate volume level of your voice but isn't so sensitive that you can hear a gnat fart.
8. After you are done adjusting your settings, make sure you deactivate local test mode(hint: it's the same button you clicked to activate local test mode) and click Close.
Now you are ready to proceed. A gotcha of TeamSpeak is if you click on another window while TeamSpeak is open, you can't get back to it unless you either minimize all windows or click on the purple and white headphones in your system tray near your time.
After going through the items above try the following:
Joining the TG TeamSpeak Server
1. Start TeamSpeak if it isn't running.
2. Click on Connection.
3. Click on Connect.
4. You will be presented with a window that is empty except for the word Servers.
5. Right click on the word Servers.
6. Click on Add Server.
7. It should look very similar to Windows Explorer when you rename a file. Just enter a name for the server. Make it whatever you want.
8. In the Server Address field, put in the Teamspeak server IP address followed by a colon and then 8767. 8767 is the port TG uses for TeamSpeak. If you don't know about ports, don't worry about. If you want an explanation, I can give it to you over TeamSpeak. The teamspeak server IP address can be found in the forums or by clicking on the TeamSpeak Status link on the TG website.
9. In the Nickname field, put in your Nickname. It can be anything you want, but most people use their forum userid. Just don't make it vulgar or racial.
10. Make sure the radio button for Anonymous is selected. You are not a registered user.
11. Once that is done, you should just be able to click connect.
If you are successful, you should hear "Link Engaged" or something like that. If you aren't successful, go back through these instructions.
Once you are connected, you will see what are called channels. For the most part, each game has it's own channels and there may be sub-channels under those. To join a channel, simply double click the channel. If it is password protected, it will tell you. If you don't know the password, you aren't supposed to be in that channel. You move around the various channels by double clicking on them.
You can also set up key bindings to put you in certain channels based on a series of keyboard keys. That is a more advanced topic that can be discussed later.
If none of this works for you and you still can't get connected, then post again with the issues you are having and someone will try to help you.

Re: One More Time - BFDC Night
I can be there late on Tue night (after 10pm EST)... and should be able to be there early on Wednesday. I'll bet that most will be off by the time I get home, but I'll give it a try. Wednesday is for sure.

Re: One More Time - BFDC Night
You actually need both. Install .7 first and then install Final. Also, make sure you have installed all the patches to BF1942. You should be patched to 1.61b on BF1942.

I just tried to set up an account on my wife's computer for my son and am running into the same problem. If I figure out how to fix it, I'll let you know!

He joined the TG CS server? I'll have a chat with him about that... He's not allowed on our server...
