    Lightbulb Tactical Gamer UT2004 server

I just recently noticed that TG had an Unreal Tournament 2004 server. I was wondering what the state of this server is. I've never seen anyone in it and it always seems to be playing AS-RobotFacotry.

Does it ever play any other gametypes and/or maps?

Does it always play vanilla UT2K4? (If not, I highly recomend the Ballistic Weapons, Monkey Matrix Moves, Unreal4Ever, and Strangelove mods. I don't remember where to download them, but I can provided the files since I still have them on my HD)

Is this server ever populated regularly at a certain time?

I really liked playing UT2004 when it came out and I still play single player every once in a while. I think it's a shame that this server is going unused. Perhaps we can get together a small group of people to play together. (Even if it's just screwing around and slaughtering bots )

The server has been empty since it's inception, sadly enough. I love UT2004, it's just never really caught on despite Apophis and my interest in it.

The server is vanilla, no mods, and only has a good amount of maps, but i don't recall which ones.

UT2004 with the infiltration mod was the best...it added reall military guns instead of futuristic ones....was great
that sounds like a good idea trooper.

I say we get a group together one night and hit up the server. All get on TS and have a jolly old time.

I did a search for Infiltration and I could only find info for a mod on the original UT. Are you sure it was for UT2004?

Has anyone played 'Gateways'? It's part of Unreal4Ever. There are tons of monsters spawning out of gateways all over the level and the only way to stop them is to destroy the gateways. It's lot of fun and it also requires teamwork or the mosters will kill you constantly. (Unless you play on easy, or you've got a Strangelove launcher with infinite ammo ) I don't know if Unreal4Ever would be a good mod for the TG server though, since it is far from tactical. (One of the most powerful weapons is a toy doll. Trust me, when you here it coming you'd better run.)

i would be up for a "dust off your UT2004 discs" night. I got the game as a present and played for a big, but then CS:S and later BF2 took over and I miss it.

I don't actually need my disc to play anymore. Did one of the patches do this? (I know I haven't installed any no-cd hacks, I'm too lazy)

I also quit playing UT often after I got BF2, but now I've got school and little time for either game.

    Re: Tactical Gamer UT2004 server

I loved Onslaught and played that for awhile. I had the MA server set up for it for competition. I love Epic's support of the game, releasing betas to the admins well in advance of "official" updates, and allowing version disparity between server and client so that down-level clients could still join a beta server. The advanced admin mailing list should be an example to every other game vendor.

Indeed. Epic did a wonderful job supporting UT2004. They released lots of patches to fix all the bugs, they supported modding efforts (MSU Contest, Atari Forums, ect), and they gave us all a free bonus pack! *Cough* Hint, hint, EA *Cough* That reminds me, I need to go download the new patch for BF2. I also need to go read some reviews for the SF expainsion; gotta know if I'm gonna get it or not.

I liked Onslaught a lot too when I first got UT, or actually, when I got the demo. Eventually I got tired of it though, and now I prefer CFT or VCTF.

From the UT2004 Advanced Admin mailing list:

    Date: Wednesday, November 23, 2005 5:36 PM -0500
    From: Steve Polge <Steve.Polge@epicgames.com>
    To: ut2004servers@udn.epicgames.com, ut2004mods@udn.epicgames.com
    Subject: [ut2004servers] Beta patch 3369

This patch is currently available for windows clients and servers.

Please mirror it. This patch is not intended for public distribution,
since it is a beta. What this means is - feel free to distribute it
informally to anyone that will help test it, but please don't post it on
public web sites. This patch is completely compatible with the retail
version and previous patches - servers and clients of any flavor can
connect with each other. This patch will not overwrite your ut2004.ini
and user.ini files, except to update settings as necessary.

This patch should be installed *after* installing the Epic ECE Bonus
Pack, as it updates some of the game code included with the bonus pack.

The patch change list is included in the patch. After installing the
patch, you can find it at ut2004\help\readmepatch.int.txt. Here are the
    changes from 3355 to 3369:

Thanks to John Barrett for a number of fixes.

    General Gameplay:
    - Fixed DriverLeft() not be called when driver dies in vehicle without
vehicle being destroyed. This fixes the vehicle not resetting, and
fixes effects like the engine sound not being turned off.
    - Fixed some vehicle weapon effects staying around when bots stopped
    firing them.
    - Fixed spider mine layer incorrectly reducing mine count when a fired
    spider mine immediately explodes.
    - Fixed manta and raptor spinning sometimes when player enters
    - SPMA camera explodes if it hits water.
    - Don't allow SPMA camera view to go outside world.
    - Invasion HUD radar uses the viewed pawn's rotation rather than the
    spectator's rotation.
    - Fixed low gravity not working properly in second and successive rounds
    of onslaught.
    - Moved announcements for assault energycore to ASOBJ_EnergyCore_Spawn,
and made them editable by level designers.
    - Fixed spawning multiple energycores in Assault.
    - Can now throw linkgun with 1 ammo left.
    - Fixed exploit where shieldgun could be used to protect against lava or
    slime volume damage.
    - Fixed CTF Flags not returning exploit
    - Fixed stats tracking when a player switches between a spectator and
    active player (or vice-versa)

    Networking:
    - Various networking serialization optimizations.
    - Fixed issues where players would not properly be sent to the
    Spectating state on clients.
    - Fix for eyeheight getting screwed up on client
    - Server optimization - players don't do line of sight checks with each
    other
    - Don't replicate pawn.ViewPitch to netowner
    - Fixed CTF flag not properly attaching to vehicles on net clients.
    - Made CD key hashes sent by clients more secure.
    - Fixed various exploits.
    - Merged Michiel Hendrick's HTTP redirect code improvements.
    - Merged Fix for Map Vote Bug that cut off some chat text
    - Merged Fix for Map Vote Bug that caused the window to open twice
    - Prevent crash exploit (which was fixed) from being propagated to
    unpatched clients.

    Engine:
    - Return rather than asserting in UCanvas::WrappedPrint() if no valid
    font.
    - Fixed -Mod= to support proper exporting of headers
    - Convert '|' to 'I' in player names.
    - Fixed cut and paste error in MidGamePanel.uc that could cause crashes
    on level changes. (thanks Wormbo)
    - Fix and optimization for projector rendering.
    - Various changes to support 64 bit version.
    - Scripted texture changes so they don't render upside down on
    OpenGLDrv.
    - Fixed weather effects on OpenGLDrv.
    - Fix for dynamic projectors not working with OpenGL
The patch is distributed to server admins so check with your server admin (who should be on this mailing list) for availability. Note that clients don't need to update to be compatible with an updated server.
