Re: Prey demo released
I just played about 30mins of muti, game is insane...twitch skills are needed...shooting people upside down/ sideways and all sorts of crazy angles, pretty fun, I hope full version has bigger maps or something with CTF mode.

Re: Prey demo released
Multi is fun for about 20 minutes. Then the same issues Quake 4 had rear their head. The maps are too small...they all look the same. Plus the gameplay just doesn't have much depth or a good feel. This is the same problem I had with Q4 multi. Everything just felt so nerfed and small after coming from the beauty that was Quake 3. Shame too cause the portals/wallwalking stuff would be absolutely killer as an addition to the Q3 gameplay.
Single player could be sweet though.|TG-12th|mantis

Re: Prey demo released
I agree, I was feeling kinda empty after the 20-30mins of playing. I might just get it for the SP, which seems pretty cool so far in the demo anyway.

We will get bigger maps eventually. I have yet to try MP probably later on today.

Re: Prey demo released
I played through the demo. Alot of elements aren't too original. The biological environment is/(seems to be) a rip off of The Many from SS2. The combat is even less interesting than in Doom 3. The storyline is not exactly awe inspiring. And seeing people get killed by mechanical process got old long ago.
The gravity was interesting, but I'm wondering how much it will actually change gameplay, beyond simple puzzle navigation and having to shoot enemies that aren't walking the same plane. Same with the etheral walk, which may turn into a pain if you have to navigate the same path a number of times after switching back to your body for some reason.

An interview with someone on the project
http://1upyours.1up.com/
Apparently, the demo represents 20% of the game. The first 5 levels. According to the guy, it should take 2 hours to complete. (It doesn't)

Re: Prey demo released
Haha. 20% of the game? It must takes 4 hours to finish the game then. Even had i not known that, i wouldnt get the game. Its hardly original and the MP sucks. The only single player games that catch my eyes are ones that have TONS of replayability. Hopefully S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will fulfill that.

Re: Prey demo released
im gettin it just for SP...multi doesnt interest me. I think is got a badass character who actually says stuff...Basically through the demo he says exactly what i was thinking at that point. And hes foul mouthed which i love. The guns so far are pretty neat. Its nothing groundbreaking but it looks like just a fun freakin game.

Re: Prey demo released
The SP part is actually one of the few games that has interested me. However, if the demo is 1/5 of the entire game, no way I'm paying $50 for the rest of it.

Re: Prey demo released
The lead designer has stated such, and if I was lieing, I would say that the demo was less representative, and not more. This would be beyond lieing: it would be stupid lieing.

Re: Prey demo released
Finished it. It was good. 8 hours long give or take a half hour. Lots of interesting stuff you don't see in other games, clever puzzles, interesting shoot-outs, and a decent storyline that helped make the experience engaging all the way up to the very end. Challenging, but never impossible thanks to their interesting "spirit death" concept. Overall I think it is worth your money. Sure you could compare that HL2:EP1 was half of this game for a third of the cost, but lets not forget that those developers just reused what they had before, this is an entirely new and beautiful experience. There is a harder difficultly mode to boot and some seriously crazy multiplayer. A good game, worth money.
Note: Full game is 45 levels, not 24.
