Then how is it that you beat me at chess so handily? Has the game just not killed enough brain cells yet?

Not yet, but I'm sure after GTA IV is released you'll see a major decline in my ability to beat you at chess.

Holy crap they fly by the Hoboken Erie Lakawana Ferry Terminal (just Ferry Terminal in this one)! HOLY CRAP. That means the New Jersey side MUST be in it. HOLY CRAP MY HOUSE IS GOING TO BE IN GTAIV.

Yeah I know a lot of people have problems with these games, but I find them to be excellent sandbox games that always offer the best in humor, music, storyline, and fun. Don't play it for a mass murder simulator, that is just wrong. Play it for some insane freedom.

How could you not like GTA?

The worlds are immersive, the visuals pretty stunning, the social commentaory pointed and accessible, the plots and characters have meat to them... Hell, that last point alone puts it head and shoulders above 95% of the games out there.

San Andreas is seriously one of the best single-player games I've played. If not number one, top three at worst.

Dammit, I was hoping not to see any next-gen bait this year. Can't afford a new console right now (or rather, I can't justify it to myself right now).

Cingular, you may be dismissing it a bit early. How much and which part of the series did you play? It actually offers some good social commentary and witty dialogue, and some really innovative or fun gameplay mechanics, beyond just shooting people, which actually gets the cops called on you in escalating levels and is pretty difficult to get away with.

San Andreas itself has a remarkable amount of differing gameplay modes with its one set of controls and physics.

I've played a bit of GTA II and some of GTA III. With the exception of some console games (Wario Smooth Moves anyone?), it's got to be the most adult oriented but mentally juvenile game I've ever played.

    Re: Grand Theft Auto IV

I've played GTA 2, 3, vice city, and San Andreas. I've beaten all of them except San Andreas. I'm with Cing on this one. The games are just... meh. GTA 2 was honestly the most fun for me, after that the games didn't really impress me just because they were 3d. With each installment after 3, it just seems they add another gimmick to the game, but nothing that feels really ground breaking to me.
