How to do a good After Action Report (AAR)
You want lots of people to respond to you AAR, right ?
You want the fun in the game to be relived in this forum the next day, right ?
Then read this advice;
In your thread title name the date + map + time + timezone
So that people can remember and quickly think whether they were there or not
In your thread title name your system PC or XBox360
Just for clarity, we have TG people using both systems
In your thread title include a snappy summary of your gaming experience
So people wonder what's thats all about, eg 'Drive through EMP' eg 'Cap out' eg 'Triple Tank Trouble'
Name who was in your squad
To acknowledge your squad is good manners and they are the one's who are most likely to post a response anyway
Keep the AAR on the shorter side and the pace fast
Imagine someone telling an exciting story fast, eg this happened, then that, then wow bang zing, this is more engaging to your readers
Name names at key moments in the story
This really focuses in people's memory to encourage them to respond eg then Rage4Order rocketed the squad leader's jeep
Express your enjoyment with adjectives
Being all factual in your AAR will not really engage people's emotions, show your excitement,
use fantastic adjectives, people want to get in on the fun and post up a response
Include screenshots* showing who was on the server
So they can see if they were on and post up their take on the game
Include screenshots* of the map
Seeing the whole map is the quickest way for everyone to see the big picture of the frontline action
State which tactics worked
We are TacticalGamer after all
Ask a question to your readers
Ask your readers how it could have been done better, to encourage people to post up
* How to embed a screenshot into these forums
Upload your screenshot to TG free webspace or a site like http://photobucket.com/
put after the web address
