After playing GNAW and dominating for a few rounds, we surfed the servers for a while before I found a 50 man server on Village. I invited everyone, and we all miracusouly ended up on the same side.
When I say this was a WAAARR! I mean it. When we joined our side was getting routed. Within 5 minutes of getting in, we were pushed back to 1 base at our main.
Squad:
IO Dragone (SL)
G REGSMITH
Lag Sonata
Scarface 6174
General Keen was playing, but there was no room in the squad. He was left on his own unfortunatly.
We were on the WC side and pushed back to the north base at the last line. After bashing our heads aginst their assult/defense of the radar dish at the south, I finally came up with going up on the hill between the last line and the one in front. IO took it to the next (and more effective) step and took a Hummer around by their last line and waited for us allo to spawn on him.
This is where it starts getting good. We ditch the Hummer while circling around to attack from the east. IO sets up at the base of a hill for cover fire, and the 3 of us go to cap the objective back. It takes a few tries, but eventually we do get it back. Luckily for us, and totally by accident, IO found himself near the next line's CP on the south side. He makes a quick run for it to be joined by us very soon.
Now, I could go on and on how we took this objective, and that objective, and the other objective, how we got pused back and pushed them back. But I won't. It ended up with us on their 2nd to last line going back and forth with the 3 objectives. We lost overall, but that had already happened when we joined the server. I consider it a win for tactics and
TG.
What I WILL say is what general tactic we used in deciding when to attack and when to defend. Once we tllk an objectie, we tried to hold it for as long as we could. After we died at that CP though, we spawned cross map and went for that objective. The principle is simple: Attack where the enemy is not at. Since all of their effort was being spent attacking another objective, we could spend our time attacking the objectives left behind.
The most memorable moment of the whole 3 rounds was when we spawned initally at the 3rd match. Everyone heard the sound of a jet roaring overhead and didn't see it on the minimap. We booked it out of our north spawn fast as hell anticipating a bomb drop at the spawn. It did. It was a Fuel Air Bomb. Everyone had gotten out in time with me in the rear. Turning around and looking back, I can't believe that we all made ot out of there alive. The guy wasted his FAB at the beginning of the match without a single kill.
All in all, it was an awesome night of gaming with the fellas.
