Armored attack on the Oilfield

Last night, I joined IO Dragone, Lag Sonata, and G REGSMITH while they were playing Oilfield. We started out with just 1 APC, but the convoy grew.......

Squad:

SL: IO Dragone
G REGSMITH
Lag Sonata
Scarface6174

Loadouts changed left and right, so I'm not gonna even attempt to list em.

We were RSA the whole time.

The first round that I started with these guys, we did what we usually do on GNAW, load up in the IFV and assult 1 objective. It did work, but we had problems with the severe lack of support once we got up to the point. 1 chopper could take down the IFV rather quickly, then it'd be just us infantry on the ground aginst a chopper and possibly a tank inbound. We did win that round, but it was hard fought.

The next round, totally by spawning position at the main, I thought it would be better for me to just grab a tank then to run to the opposite side of the base to hop into the APC. After that it literally expanded into an armored convoy heading to the comm station. It's also very helpfull that there is a repair/reload bay at that point as well so we didn't have to worry about having a ground support tech repairing everyone.

I used to just spawn at the Red Star pumping station and hope that I would get backup sooner rather than not at all. The WC can and probably will get there first with it's jeep, but the small amount of infantry that can get in the jeep will not compare to the armored fury that comes in seconds later.

In fact, of the 9 rounds that we played there, I didn't even come close to being at the top of the leader boards 3/4 of the time. WIth so many tanks/APCs/AV kits shooting at the same target, the person who recieved the kill was pretty random.

We won all the rounds that I was a part of, and eventually killed the server becasue of the steamroll..... We capped them out most every round. People were having brain anyersims left and right on that last round....

Re: Armored attack on the Oilfield

Yeah, at one point 3 of us had tanks and we just completely locked down whatever point we were defending. It would get pretty crazy as we pushed them back to their last spawn, with armored columns smashing into each other in the no mans land in front of the base. Felt like being in a totally BD movie.

Actually, most of the time it was our squad capping their last flag. Once we had them pushed back, we'd quickly load up in a jeep or IFV and flank far around to the left. Everyone would pile out, and we'd usually catch them off guard.

And there was this one time we were pinned down by a chopper while advancing on an enemy CP, it was literally already shooting its first salvo of missles, ready to tear us a new one, and... BOOM!

Player X was killed by Lag Sonata (T119 Main Battle Tank)
Player Y was killed by Lag Sonata (T119 Main Battle Tank)

Aww yeah =)
