Re: What's same/different relative to BFx?

I played it for a short while.

What are the player numbers on a server, I could only find 32 person servers. are there larger servers?

I think a major attraction for the bfx series is the sheer number of tactical options available to to win the game.

In a game like ETQW or frontlines, all the action gets focused in a single small area of a larger map because that is where the objectives are.

the beta servers that you have played on are capped at 32 players, the release will have servers up to 64 players

With the new patch today there should be 48 player servers.

I'm not sure where from but I'm pretty sure I remember hearing something on some sort of feature saying that the second seat of a tank will be able to spot enemy units/vehicles and that the soldier in the first seat will see the enemy on the mini-map and the main map and with the triangle thing. I'm not sure if this will be expanded, or if it's just for the tanks/vehicles, b it seems there might be some sort of spotting in the game.

On another note Silver, I'd just like to say what a great job you're doing, it seems like almost every thread was started by you and you've posted on all of them. Probably half of the posts on this forum are yours, and you've done a fantastic job informing us about this game and giving information to Apophsis and the admins. Great work and keep it up.

Silver for FFoW admin .

EDIT: A few questions.

1. How do the sniper rifles feel? Is there much deviation? how many shots to take down a soldier and how many in a clip? good range? Is it like COD2 where you can use snipers as shotguns?

2. I believe CPs can come up as 1 of 3 objectives, destroying, capturing or killing (clearing the area), but I'm not completely sure...?

3. Is the close-range (shotgun) kit very useful? Seems the assaults are best for mid-close range infantry...?

4. Is there a role/class that looks quite a bit stronger/weaker than the others. Any imbalance of kits/roles?

5. Can you take kits of opponents/friendlies.

6. Do you go up in role ranks in-game or do you do it outside of the game. (Edit: I mean is it like BF where you build-up your points and get a rank-up, or like COD4 where you get the airstrikes and helicopters and stuff from kill streaks in the game, and then you lose them when you leave the game, like Field Upgrades in 2142)

7. You only rank-up roles not classes right?

Re: What's same/different relative to BFx?

If anyone in your squad has a drone deployed, all members get target info from that drone in their first person view (not on minimap - no baddies ever appear on minimap).

Your whole team can see the people on the minimap and as highlighted red triangles on your HUD with the recon droid. I wish pubs in the beta would stop suiciding the droid so quickly.

Re: What's same/different relative to BFx?

I have seen red enemies appear on minimap but I am not sure what triggers it

I saw a video where the tank second gunner had alternative fire as missile interceptor

Re: What's same/different relative to BFx?

yeah, actually you're right... i have seen blips on the minimap.

I wonder if they'll remove the ability to see recon intel from non-squad members? This video tutorial syas it's intra-squad.

I doubt they will. The recon drone only has a limited range and would be very useful if you get intel from your whole team (drones usually don't last that long anyways).

Last night I was playing on Oil Field in the Helicopter (not in a squad) and saw a nice red triangle on the ground way in the middle of nowhere. Trying to target the person I noticed it was a guy who always just used assault drones the whole round. So I parked my nice copter right in front of him and as soon as he moved I blasted him away.

In that situation I doubt my squad (if I was in one) would utilize drones (probably be a helo squad), thus the whole team aspect is very useful.

You waited till he moved? Can't you kill people while they're using drones?

Re: What's same/different relative to BFx?

actually, is it drone spots that appear on the minimap for the whole team?

my experience when using drones for spotting is that you have to be pretty close and kinda track players to keep them spotted, it certainly is not a magical spotting machine

Re: What's same/different relative to BFx?

Well, you can exit "control mode" for the drone and it just hangs out (hovers/parks) where you left it... the only reason I could think of that being useful (why they'd take time to add it to the game) is so that you could do something like this: launch the drone, fly it to where you're gonna be attacking/defending, then switch to your rifle and move in with your squadmates....

I wanted to make sure he saw the nice big helicopter parked on the ground in front of him. It was purely for dramatic affect.

The drone has a limited range, probably slightly larger than the cap radius of a control point. Even if spots are team wide, you'd still park your own droid over the area your squad is attacking to make sure you have the proper intel.
