TeamSpeak
What to expect:
It's a "beta" release, which means there are many known bugs and unimplemented features:
1) The menus and GUI are pretty bad.. for example, some cancel buttons don't work - like when refreshing the server browser
2) Some of the destroyed buildings/rubble on the Street map have colision mesh issues... so although you can climb into the side of a destroyed building, you can't shoot in or out.
3) No VOIP!
That's ok - we have teamspeak.
4) The squad interface is a little buggy - it shows overlapping names on the HUD sometimes, and the invite and join menus also have some display issues.
5) Chaos - there a lot of people trying the game for the first time. A lot of guys are hanging back, checking out how the drones work.
6) Not a lot of defense. The front-line system shows you which flags can be attacked.. most beta-players don't realize the flags behind the front must be defended.
7) Lower framerates (or video settings) than you're used to. They've apparently made some optimizations for final release, but it's a pretty demanding game for your graphics card and CPU. I have a 7800gs with a 1.8ghz core-duo (Dell E1705 laptop). To acheive 50-60fps in BF2, I run at 1680x1050 with mostly medium settings. To get the same frame-rates in Frontlines, I use the lowest video settings with a resolution of 1152x864.
