Thumbs up Starting a Role Guide, please help!

Draeh and I were doing some testing tonight on the TG server. We mainly focused on the Support Role for now. If anyone has done testing of their own on this or other roles feel free to post here. We'll try and compile a handy role weapon damage/usage guide so no one has to go fumbling for the right weapon.

GROUND SUPPORT

Western Coalition Rank 1 - WC/MIL-12 Welding Torch
Red Star Alliance Rank 1 - Shezhou R66 Repair Torch

Obvious use is repairing a vehicle. If you are Ground Support you can also passive repair (repair without getting out and using the torch) any vehicle you are in as long as you are not being attacked. Secondary use is killing, yes, you can kill with it. I can see this being used like the defibs in Battlefield.

Western Coalition Rank 2 - M317 Grenade Machine Gun
The Grenade Machine Gun fires quite rapidly and has a 6 magazines holding 6 rounds. This gun also has the same options as the Assault weapon, explode on impact or airburst explosion. Unfortunately it does not have stopping power against vehicles. It only takes 2 lines off the armor health bar. However It would be devastating to a squad or group of enemy who are close together. A good use is atop a building looking over a CP but beware of snipers as there is hardly any protection.

Red Star Alliance Rank 2 - GSH633 Mini Gun
The mini gun is basically a portable turret mounted weapon, firing rapidly and very precise. Best uses for this we figure is a choke point or at a distance from an open CP. Will mow down infantry in seconds but does minimal damage to vehicles, about the same as your hand held weapon. Beware of snipers using this weapon.

Western Coalition Rank 3 - EMA 11 ("Rail") Gun
The Rail Gun is a nice unit, firing in a straight line as far as you can see. Holding 6 clips with 5 rounds in them each, it has about the same "explosion on impact" radius as a grenade and will take out infantry in 1 shot but the ROF is too slow for use on multiple infantry. It's main use is against armored vehicles as it takes off roughly 40-50% of it's armor, leaving a tank only 1-2 bars of health left after 2 rounds. Beware of snipers using this weapon.

Red Star Alliance Rank 3 - RK1 Portable Sentry Gun
Probably one of the best role weapons of the game. Versatile unit that attacks both infantry and vehicles at the same time. Currently has a 360 degree attack angle (we think it's a bug, the unit visually scans only 180 degrees). The Sentry Gun fires it's rounds about as accurate as the Assault Weapon and the same ROF. The rockets are about as powerful as the AV Class weapon, doing just over 1/3 damage to armored vehicles. It takes 3 rockets to kill any armor and has roughly 3-4 sec ROF.

Re: Starting a Role Guide, please help!

Our friends over at FocusedGaming did some really nice guides during the beta... assume they're still mostly accurate, but there's no reason we can't expand on these writeups! (like the bit about the sentry turret shooting 360 is great to know!)

- Role Guide : Countermeasures
- Role Guide : Ground Support
- Role Guide : Air Strikes
- Role Guide : Drones

The repair torch also fixes blown up objectives faster than the "use" button. Very usefull on Invasion as RSA.
