is it worth it?

Just a question....I love the battlefield games, 2142 and 2. I also like the COD4, my question is does this game play similar to say 2142? I did the beta and the game was a horrible vehicle fest with everyone running around with rocket launchers just to survive. Is the final version as good as the battlefield series? I really appreciate any feed back

Re: is it worth it?

Here is some discussion on the comparison.

I never played 2142 beyond the demo. I do play a lot of BF2 POE. Some limited observations:

Is the pace of play fast? YES
Is there potential for noob behavior with grenade launchers and rocket spam? In some cases, yes.
Like any new game, people can become enamored with the novelty of the toys and gadgets at first, but over time they realize they need more to win the game than just that.

For me, the things that translate most from BF2 to FFoW are:
You are rewarded for tactics, teamwork, communication and squad play.
For most every offensive measure, there is a defensive countermeasure.
Weapons accuracy is improved by crouching or going prone.

Personally, I like the game because I like to be challenged to overcome obstacles. To each their own, others may not. As Silver said, the PC Demo is coming soon and you can check that out to see for yourself.

Re: is it worth it?

I enjoyed 2142 for a good while, but the maps were so narrow that your tactics were an answer to the layout of the map and not so much on your enemies strategies. Which caused one to repeated the same handful of maneuvers over and over. This game is more like BF2 in that the maps are more spread out which creates a much more dynamic and realistic theater. There are more opportunities for one to be creative in making attack or defense plans as well as creating a necessity to be able to respond to a larger amount of variables. It's somewhere in between 2142 and PR.
