Its not what the pre viop games had but what the games out at that time did not have. What I am saying is that if no games have VIOP then they are all even and a game can be relesed with no VIOP and do well but if every other game has VIOP and yours does not then you better make real sure that it has great hook, something that people can not live with out. FFoW has nither.

It being on X-Box has nothing to do with it, hell I have an X-Box its just that the product did not have a feature that is all but expected. It's like selling a car with no battary and telling people to roll thier car down a hill to start it till they can get back to you and install one.

Well if you can't connect MP there's a big problem right there. With or without Voip there is still TS unless people are too lazy to bother using a program that's been in use for the last 3 years. If the game is good enough then people would use TS or something else. I can't see that lack of voip is the only reason people aren't playing it and the battery analogy seems incorrect since the game works - I think a more accurate analogy would be your car is missing a stereo.

If there are connection issues and people can't join, that would be a factor. What about when you do join - what's the gameplay like? Is it just a BF2 clone or is it offering something different?

Yh, I'm not sure that he VoIP is such a big issue, since ArmA had a huge following before the VoIP was fixed...the guys made the TS thing work, and that was that.

The issue with VOIP is about pulling in the casual gamer. The ArmA crowd is used to difficulties. They are a hardened bunch that doesn't do anything without a plan, so TS works for them. Take 2142 for an example. Where would that title be at TG without in game VOIP to pull in and convert the typical pub player into the TG way of play.

Of course there are more problems in this title than just VOIP. If it were just VOIP, then the servers would still be stacked with players lone wolfing their way across the landscape.

I'm holding out hope that patch 1.1.0 will be a smash hit and some players will return. Given the track record of KAOS thus far, I feel I am being way to optimistic. Only time will tell, and right now time is the biggest enemy of this title.

Server browser sucks. If you can't even get in 75% of the time (and stay in) who cares who you talk to.

I agree, Armed Assault is a much different game and type of person playing it. Logging into TS was not an option in ArmA as your enjoyment of the game depends on communication. Frontlines can be enjoyed by lone wolves who like to bunny hop and noob tube. Without an in game comms people are not going to put forth the effort to come to a website and sign up for a TS password.

I think the biggest problem is the 360 version has many of the bugs fixed the PC version does not. In fact the 360 demo had many of hte bugs that exist today in the PC version fixed. I was very optimistic and an early adopter because I thought the PC version would at least be as good as the 360 demo which had VOIP and a number of changes. Without the comms and good squad play the game turned into a nade fest. And don't get me started on the server browser

Actualy its comming up on 7 years since TS and Vent have been relesed. None the less they are only useful for people that play together in the same group very often. On the 2142 server you rarely get more than half the server on TS and even that can be high some times. With TS/Vent you need to actualy have a second program running in the back ground and some lower end computers don't have the extra ponies for the game let alone for extra software running in the back ground.

There was lots of things wrong to go around but for me it is only the team play that I was intersted in where your toon is non-persistant.

Also when you have everyone on teamspeak/vent, you don't know who is talking, where as in BF2142 it shows on screen who is talking with there name and an indication on the minimap etc. Integrated voip makes communication more effective because it gives the visual feedback you need.

TS overlay shows you whos talking, but unfortunately not everyone is able to run it along with their games.

My first car didn't have air conditioning. I like air conditioning. I wouldn't buy another car without it.

People once lived in caves and did not play video games or have much time to entertain themselves. The past is the past keep it where it is. Curent games provide it as a basic standard feature. I don't need to get over it I just play games that have it built in.

If a game does not have VOIP I am not going to play it, GET OVER IT!

Without the momentum of a "release" I don't see this game ever being widely adopted even when patched to meaningful state. Very sad

Re: Stick a fork in it?

Yh I think the only remedy would be a new game itself or an expansion pack or something, because like you said, the hype around a release is much more than what you'd get from a patch, and a lot of people that were disappointed by it probably sold it when it was new and a bit more in demand.

Epic fail...it's a shame indeed. Had been looking forward to this for like a year.
