Stick a fork in it?
This has been a quiet forum, lately, and not much new of any great consequence has been posted on the Kaos Community Forum. Is it a forgone conclusion that FFOW is dead? I really don't get any sense that there is a future for the game.

Re: Stick a fork in it?
It would appear that way. Even the servers have been dead. Usually I'll get on at some peak times and see a few full servers but lately you're lucky to have 25 people on a server and there are only like 3-4 servers with people on them.

Re: Stick a fork in it?
When a developer releases a team-oriented multi-player game without VoIP in this day and age, they are setting themselves up for failure.

FROM THE TACTICAL GAMER PRIMER.
3) Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine.

Re: Stick a fork in it?
The lack of VOIP and the lack of VOIP even being listed on the horizon is near impossible to overcome. TS is great for structured/planned matches, but very unworkable to draw in joe random public.
Its sad really. The games visuals and play are very good. Sure, the maps and weapons need balance and that is what the patches should have been about.
I very much wanted this title to succeed here at TG.

Re: Stick a fork in it?
Nah.... it's dead.
I went in to a server tonight that was full of spawn camping knob gobblers. Sorry people. if you think capitalizing on game exploits like dropping automated turrets at a spawn location is a tactic, you are a n00b.
I have decided that the game is so overwhelmingly slanted to Red it is pathetic.
The 1.03 prerelease notes say nothing about VOIP... this just kills the game.
I wish I had a stat for grenade launcher kills. I'll pull a mea culpa here... but that is because it's just so damn effective.
I'll wrap up the single player experience and chalk this one up to a bad spending choice. Maybe I can trade it for $5 credit.
Sad.

Sucks to be you Pc guys getting a less done version that the 360 folks. Guess it's just harder to develop when there are a million different systems out there with twice as many different features.
When VoIP gets put back in I think the game might go for the upswing for joo guys.

Re: Stick a fork in it?
One week before release it came out there was no VOIP, and as Tempus says thats a killer
If and when FFOW gets VOIP on the PC then I can see a TG server getting somewhere, if we had a server at that time.

Re: Stick a fork in it?
It's extremely disappointing that MP on PC doesn't have voice coms. They certainly released before it was ready, and I think we all realize the unfulfilled potential here. They now have solid revenue from the initial sales and I'd imagine a continued stream from xbox sales, so don't think they're going to let this rot on the vine. KAOS will continue improving it, and once they finally get VOIP implemented, we can hit the reset button here on this and start fresh!

Re: Stick a fork in it?
I have played a lot of THQ games in the past and they have all been great. I am stunned with shock and awe that they are not moveing on a special patch for VOIP right away.
Every time I think of it I imagine the starting movie where the WC use the assualt drone to pin down the RSA in the tall building. I imagine the WC officer pointing up to the RSA troops and mouthing some words you can not hear to a drone soldier only to have the drone soldier sit there and do nothing because he does not have a clue what the officer wants him to do.
This vid sums it nicely, at about 20 seconds Bruce Willis asks the blond guy to toss him a gun but the blond guy is deaf..........

Re: Stick a fork in it?
Yep, I was really into this when it launched but as of today I'm putting it on the backburner until at least the 1.03 patch, which sounds like it will be sometime in May. I can deal with most of the other little glitches but no VOIP has me frustrated because this game would go to another level with in-game comm. Back to PoE2 I guess.

Re: Stick a fork in it?
I do not understand the ommission of VOIP. It is clearly stated as built into the game engine. Visit http://www.unrealtechnology.com/ and learn all about it. I drag myself into a server now and then to try and have some fun, mainly becaue I see this juggernaut of a game just wainting to be unleashed. I hope that Kaos understands the situation the way gamers see it... or else they are doing a poor job of explaining their philosophy to us.
