Invasion: A lesson in assault tactics

This is my view on how best to attack the Red Star Coalition on the map Invasion. This assault requires at least 2 squads working together, with random pub players assisting in their own pub way.

Squad Loadaout can vary, but try to not overlap roles as much as possible. You have 4 squaddies and 4 roles. The only role that might be not needed during assault on this map is Ground Support.

    My preferred squad loadout:

SL-Assault class with Drone: Mobile spawn point and enemy spotting.
2-Sniper with Air Support: Cover from above w/ Air strikes as needed
ALT2-Heavy assault with Air support: This is for a more mobile squad that is moving from CP to CP.
3-Assault with EMP: Main assault of CPs and cover fire for explosives planter. Stop air strikes and activly hunt EMP sticks.
4-Spec Ops with Air Support: C4 bubba while capping points. Put C4 on common ingress routes. Kill quietly.

    Tactics:

    1st line

1)Take 2 different choppers and go around the sides low. DO NOT FIRE UNTIL FIRED UPON. 1 guy might see you, but that doesn't mean his whole team has.

Squad A goes left to the Watchtower. Leave chopper on ground with C4 rigged to it. If and when an enemy gets into it, blow them sky high. SL should try to get on top of the vehicle bay to provide cover and a good spawn point. Attack as necessary. Hold until line moves up. Sniper set up is in the oil towers directly behind the watchtower about 75 meters.

Squad B goes to the right towards Radar Station. Best to drop off close to out of bounds and hoof it over. Sniper can provide good cover from parking structure. **Not sure where to set up SL.**

Preferably Squad B will go to AA station when bomb is planted at Radar. Sniper should be able to effecivly kill with airstrikes/rifle anyone who tries to repair objective.

From here on out, both squads take care of their own Power Plant (A or B) and final CPs. If help is needed, send only 1 or 2 players over to assist.

If anyone wants to add/change tactics to this one, I can garuentee that more than 1 approach works.

Nice ideas, too bad we can't test them out since your 360 is dead =(
On the right flank, by the radar station, the pilot can drop the SL on top of the long, flat building about 20 meters away from the radar station. That way he can go prone, out of view, and use the recon drone to spot enemies.

he can't go prone and use drones. He's got to be kneeling I play video games laying down, he should be able to also! Hehe

Personally I think the SL should always be EMP. Only because he can't be discovered by enemy drones that would give away his position, and if an enemy drone comes into sight he can give away the controllers position to his squaddies.

With Recon drones showing everyone the enemy's positions it might be a good use for the sniper, air support is also good like you said. If a sniper had drones he could actively see where the enemy was coming from and going to. He could position his drone in a way to illuminate their positions and he and his buddies could take them out.

    Just some other thoughts

You know, I've never thought about the SL being EMP tech. I'll hafta try that out next time I play.

I think alot of it comes down to personal preference. When I'm SL I'm almost always either Ground Support or EMP.

Edit: I thought you could go prone while using the recon drone?

After watching Silver's video "drone guy vs. EMP guy" I guess you can go prone. It never let me though, even with the recon drone.

The trick is that you need to be standing to launch the drones... But then if you right-click to go back to person-view, you can crouch or prone and find a good hiding spot. Then when you right-click again, you go back into drone-view. Of course, as shown in silver's vid, EMP guys see red triangles around people using their drones, so don't ever think you're safe
