Let me start with this question; are there other first-person shooter games that have aerial drones that allow you to display real time enemy locations to your allies?
This is an incredible dimension for this game. On the infantry intensive levels where vehicles don't help much, I was amazed at the difference aerial drone 'targeting' made. When I had a drone up in the air, my team was just running through the opposition. We were nearly unstoppable. When my drones were shot down, all hell broke loose and we lost all the checkpoints we had acquired.
Is it worth me taking my gun off the battlefield so that I can show my teammates where the enemy is? Absolutely, It's certainly a force multiplier.
Bottom line, allowing your friends to see enemies that are out of their own line of sight is just incredible, it's like I'm seeing the future of warfare. I definitely see this kind of technology (real time enemy locations taken by drones being relayed directly to soldiers through some type of optical device) being on real world battlefields in 20 years.
Oh yeah. Used right, the recon drone is incredibley useful. Unfortunately, most people instead spam them to get kills rather than using them for the team.
aerial drones are the best role gadget in my opinion
the info that they provide is CP winning, they are almost worth as much as having an extra guy in your squad, they are that influencial on results
the thing is there benefit is continous over time by spotting, they are not use the gadget and get the big result immediatly, like cluster bombs
my standard operating practice is to get them up in the air and park them immediatly upon deploying, my favorite place is at the top of a tree. They are for recon, killing someone with a drone is an exceptional situation for me now
they are so good its even worth having 2 drone guys in the squad

Drones are the most important tool in the game for the well organized squad. They provide your team with amazing situational awareness within the area of the drone. Scouting ahead with a drone on city maps should be standard operating procedure.

The above reason is why I like to run EMP tech and get rid of those pesky drones.
My Thoughts exactly Scarface.
On the other hand as long as your squad leader sits back with a Heli and calls the shots….well I guess you could say I am on the fence when it comes to drones.

Not only that...but as a EMP tech, you can sneak up on the enemy as well. EMP techs don't appear on enemy radar. So essentially you have a human ninja recon agent
Drones arent as effective as you are saying they are one, is because they are loud and noisey and it takes about 3 bullets to make the thing garbage, its effective but more of a waste.
but dont get me wrong they are effective sometimes, they could kill people you cannot reach and help your team out with highligts,

If you can hide the recon drones creatively, then I guaruntee you they will not be shot down. I've had 1 recon drone up for almost an entire match before. And the intel they provide, especially on the smaller infantry based maps, is invaluable.
Theres some real sweet hideing places for a drone on streets. If with a drone your squad see's that theres only one guy defending then your not nearly as likely to be stoped as when you dont know how many are there.
I agree, I usually try to pair up with a player who use the drone properly. I like to back up the drone with EMP. Ive also held several control points using the mortor drone!!!
So many people fail to spot out the "Recon" in the "Recon Drone"... they just send 'em out and blow them up straight away...
I love 'em though, great for maps like Street where you can lead your squad with one... or in general maps just hover them above objectives, pop out a gun and watch those red triangles swarm the place and die
Bravo Microsoft, you have now surpassed EA in poor decisions and once and for all seized the crown for the worst 'Reveal' ever. That EA were standing there on the stage with you when you did it was...

It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
