Re: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Review
With the Tactical Realism Mod (TRM) finally coming to fruition.
The gaming experience has been raised to a new plane. There are some wants that can be added to future releases. But I am happy to say that a majority of the issues with the stock game I had have been resolved. If you are looking for a squad based tactical experience. We are not the BF at TacticalGamer. We are not CSS at TacticalGamer. We are CoD at TacticalGamer and with that heritage we carry on. Hope to see you all on the server! -HaveANiceDay aka Agapito S. ![]() |

Re: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Review
I found some parts of the game very frustrating. Mostly it was AI behavior. Your guys are dumb, their guys are suicidal, and they will spawn unlimited numbers of badguys at you until you run up and shove your rifle down their throats. I recall several times where I was stuck, being unable to advance because the friendly AI wouldn't provide effective support, leaving me to charge ten or fifteen guys in cover. having endless generic Arabian guys charge so that they to can get shot can be immersion breaking. Multiplayer is fun, but lends itself somewhat to AWPing. And there is a lot of built in asshattery with the Martyr perk and a few other things.

CoD4 is ok, but I prefer BattleField 2!
I don't know why, maybe it's because I have always been a BattleField 2 fan... And yes the graphics on CoD4 is great.

Re: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Review
After playing through the SP campaign, I must say I'm put off that they still use the infinitely respawning enemies trick again (even though I knew it was coming). It really breaks down the "suspension of disbelief" when you start to realize that the only way you'll clear an area is if you advance past a certain point to stop the respawning. Why couldn't they simply populate an area with enemies and allow you to advance once you've cleared them all?
The only thing that saves it from being a bust is that it is tough to detect in Rookie or Regular difficulties, since it's much easier to advance against the onslaught of enemies (only if you know that you *must* advance to clear the area). Once you try Hardened or Veteran, it becomes way too apparent because of how hard it is to advance. I actually started the game on Hardened, and was so put off that I went back and re-started the game on Regular and had a *much* better time. It wasn't that I was stuck, but that I was just getting impatient having to work against what I knew to be an infinite-respawn system. I loved the storyline though, and thought it all tied together rather nicely for an action title. I enjoyed playing through the campaign a great deal on Regular, but I think I'll stick to Arcade Mode to try Hardened, because I can't see it as anything besides an arcade experience. The multiplayer is unbelievably fun. I'm still getting a ton of enjoyment out of it. I really hope they figure out another way of going about the campaign's "respawning" issue in 6. |

Re: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Review
I'm with Magnum on the singleplayer review of COD4 Modern Warfare. This is one First Person Shooter that no fan should be without. I admit to actually getting goosebumps and emotional a couple times during the singleplayer. This singleplayer is also greatly replayable especially if you want to introduce friends to a kick ass storyline graphics etc. Concerning multiplayer though; it's fun (kind of like CSS on steroids!) but the arcade style multiplayer gets old quick for me. No situational awareness especially on respawn, and it's almost impossible to employ teamwork given the randomness of respawn and the fact that enemies can actually respawn directly behind you. There is plenty of cover and many times you'll have no idea where or how you were shot or killed and then to respawn not knowing where you are is just frustrating lowering this to just whoever can get the most kills before round end mixture of luck and twitch and hours of experience on a particular map experience. Obviously I'm interested to see what the Tactical Realism mod will bring to the multiplayer of this potentially great multiplayer experience.
