Re: The Wives of Gamers

And then there are the anomalies out there like myself. I am the wife and the more dedicated (addicted??) gamer. Hubby is usually pretty good about leaving me alone when I'm raiding - if I haven't dragged him along.

Re: The Wives of Gamers

Damonte's girlfriend actually threatened to kick his... ... if the 3rd didn't win their three competition games this week.

Needless to say Damonte made sure that the 3rd won.

Re: The Wives of Gamers

Well...I don't have a wife but have some stories regarding my lovelife and gamin.

Story 1: Back when Call of Duty 1 came out, I was REALLY into MP and play constantly. I had a somewhat of a steady relationship with this chick and at first she thought it was "cute" that I gamed so much. After a month and a half of this she got upset and she gave me an ultimatum. Show her some more attention or she will leave. I told her to leave, but what she didn't know was that I had another girlfriend on the side.

Story 2: Remember my Girlfriend on the side, well she left almost a week later. After a wonderful night of making whoopy, I informed all my friends of my recent activites to great detail. Little did I know was that she heard everything. I thought she was sleeping and next thing I knew I got slapped upside the head and she left. This bummed me out because I kinda liked her

Story 3: My current sort of kinda Girlfriend is a pretty cool chick. She will come over to my dorm room and wait patiently for several hours until I finished gaming. Then she will see me die and tell me..."you suck". Then one day she slept over and and woke me up at 3 in the morning telling me that my computer was talking to me. Well it was Darkestspade over TS to let me know the server was down. I leave my TS on and turned up when I crash out so people can let me know if the server is down. Well, I forgot this was on and she kinda freaked out.

It's a wonder why chicks stick by us. I dont know about you, but I tend to get a little short with her if I have a bad day on the server and vise-versa.

She's mine. All mine I say.
I had a room mate that awesome once.

I was living with this girl while I was at school (2 bedroom apt, we each had our own room, there was nothing going on) and she said she wanted some of her sorority sisters to move in to lower the rent. I said no prob, but I don't feel like living with 3 girls. I'll move out and you 3 can have the apt.

The 2 girls moved in early and I ended up living there for a month sharing a room with one of the girls.

OMFG. This girl worked at EB and we played resident evil together every freaking day. She was 5 foot flat, jet black hair, skinny with the perkiest tits and ass** in existence. She walked around in her underwear and refused to lose a pillow fight. So if I tossed a pillow at her at say 2 am, she'd jump out of bed half naked, jump on me, and start pummeling away with pillows.

It was the best room mate situation I ever had and I immediately regretted saying that I was going to move out before I met her.

It was better off, her boy friend wasn't fond of me and I can't blame him. She'd constantly tease me and if she decided to go for it, theres no way I could have refused.

But maaan, girls like that are just awesome.

**Please don't be offended. The girl walked around half naked asking me if I liked her underwear just to throw me off while I was trying to beat her scores on the Resident Evil shooting gallery. In this case, I think these are the appropriate words.

Re: The Wives of Gamers

I have no SO, but I catch glimpses of other people's lives playing with TG.

Example: Luna does not have BF2142, but Apophis does and apparently no longer plays it. We suggested Luna ransom sex for his BF2142 but she considered it for all of 10 seconds before saying its more likely she'd cave over the issue before Apophis.

Damn...I wish I got a screenshot of that conversation.

Standard greeting for new members of WoW-TG:
"Greetings and Salutations <insert name here>. Welcome to Tactical Gamer. The guild that proves acting mature will get you the hot chicks."

In a game that probably has a 90% male player base WoW-TG has the highest Man:Woman ratio. Unfortunately, we're probably the only guild in WoW that has "Maternity Leave" as a reason for losing people as well. -.-

I assume that "inbetween" here is referring to a spatial dimension rather than a temporal one...

Its a much nicer thought than thinking you can only game after breakups and before hookups.

Re: The Wives of Gamers

What I mean is inbetween having a girlfriend or nto having one. My last and only major girlfriend I broke up with because she was driving me crazy even though I was willing to commit everythign for her. But now I have found someone very amazing, the problem is she is extermly religious and wont go out with me although she regualrly comes round my house and when we are alone we are more than friends, so I spend alot of my time talking to her. But anyway, if it will last while I am at university is a different matter, but it will make me feel quite guilty if it doesn't cause I have made her trust me (a skill i have learnt off my grandad who can get free rooms in hotels just by talkign to the manager usualy), and I am the first person she has ever kissed and that means somethign very important to her. But her and games? defintly I would choose the girl.

Here's the best way to take care of the wifey if you're a gamer:

btw: my gf is currently in Physical Therapy school, so this means endless gaming for me for the next couple of years. Ooorahh!

I just wanted to let you know that playing WoW doesn't make you a gamer. I have tons of female friends that all of the sudden became "gamers" (See: Sloth) when WoW hit it big. Now they run around saying "pwned" and "noob" but don't even know what the hell "FPS" stands for. Actually, I wouldn't say they "run" so much as they stumble. Jumble? Flobbergate? Whatever motion penguins make when they're feeling gassy. Yeah, that one.

WoW players are about as much "gamers" as people driving Plymouth Prowlers are "hot rod enthusiasts".

My wife isn't a gamer but she does pull this trick when she REALLY wants me off the PC....it behooves a married man to take advantage of any and all opportunities as they are often unpredictable and frequently delayed in coming. You fellas that have been married for a decent spell know what I'm talking about.

And since she ISNT a gamer but OFTEN frustrated...I'm always trying to get her to give Arma or PRM a try. "Nothing like a satisfying shotgun blast to the head" I say, "It would really help dispel your current malaise." This usually gets me a slap to the head and never leads to her giving it the old college try.

Re: The Wives of Gamers

My wife is into one of those Neopet-ish sites and is on it for hours at a time. Certainly not something I would want to do, but it makes it hard for her to complain if I game. So all the better for me!

I used to play Neopets. Pretty good economy system anyway. You play games, earn points/money, use the money to buy toys and stuff for your pet. Buy weapons/armor b/c you can fight the pets. Special paintbrushes to make them rare colors that don't occur naturally, etc etc.

I learned pretty quickly that you can just scout the auction area for things people were stupidly selling for very cheap that were worth alot. Grabbed them, resold for massive profits.

Long story short, none of my friends would fight my pets because I had already bought awesome equipment and upgrades. Secret lab ray FTW. Eventually became boring b/c I had already achieved a near limitless supply of cash. I think I ended up giving the account away.

...

I mean, ah... NEOPETS IS TEH GHEYZ!!!

Gamer (Noun) - A person who plays games

Lets not get snooty and start saying "You're not a gamer because you don't do X". Gamer is a classification because it was commonly thought that games were for children and that if you played them you were being immature. Of course, call a 250lb man in his 30's immature to his face and you'll get sat on. So a gamer is anyone who plays games over X age where X is debateable depending on where you stand on the issue.

If it's a game and you have fun while playing frequently, you are a gamer. End of description and end of line. Classifying beyond that by saying "They're not a gamer because they only play Y" is like saying "They're not a gamer because they play that game instead of playing this game" the point is they play a game and that's it. Now you can classify between Action Gamers, Strategy Gamers, MMORPG Gamers, RPG Gamers, MUD Gamers, Casual Gamers, Hardcore Gamers, etc etc but that's just getting into the finer details.

Someone who plays WoW with dedication is just as much a gamer as the person playing Starcraft professionally or your foaming at the mouth Halo prepubesent who screams obscenities into his mic. They all play games, although different genres, and derive enjoyment from doing so.

On a semi-related note, I also played Neopets for a while. What? It was free and they offered good flash based games before sites that gathered those things started popping up. I think I have one of the oldest accounts on there and medals for games that no longer even exsist. ^_^ Haven't been back there in a long long time though. Once you have the funds to buy one of the mainstream games you just don't feel like going back to those things anymore.

Anyone a veteran MUD gamer? The discussion with Suilung over a STO game actually had me looking back on when I played Federation so I actually did a search and found the game is no longer pay-to-play so started dabbling into it. Granted its not one of those megacommunities like an underground Star Trek game, but its harmless fun for a few minutes when I'm bored.
