Re: Futurama is back!
I've heard of this in the works for quite a while. Didn't quite expect the direct to DVD, but hey I'll enjoy even more
![]() Lets face it, Fox is a crap network. Their show turnover has been a pretty bad record until of late. Hell their "cash cow" aka The Simpsons is interrupted for car chases! I don't care what you think of Family Guy, the shows that replaced it (I'm looking at you ALLY MCBEAL!) are total crap by comparison (and seemingly non-ironically, on their own). Trivia Time: Why is David X. Cohen's middle initial X?! (Duhn Duhn Duhhhhhn!)

Re: Futurama is back!
I loved Ally McBeal. (But then, it did have lots of eye candy and I liked the music.)
Futurama is a nerd's cartoon. The best humor requires some science and math to grasp, and flies right over the heads of most of the audience. It's a great show to TiVo so you can catch all the freeze-frame gags. |

Re: Futurama is back!
Maybe he smiles while laughing, but immediately stops smiling post laugh.
Whereas with Futurama the smile continues even after the laughter has stopped. That's my theory, anyway.

Re: Futurama is back!
Begbie is correct
![]() I find the commentary, of which I found the trivia question, to be almost as rewarding as the show itself, sometimes even more so. I'll never forget when they had the top 3 voice talents beat box the whole intro. If it wasn't for Futrurama I probably wouldn't have ever figured out binary for myself and decoded Bender's Apartment number ![]() Futurama got a lot of hate mail for some things they did in their show. It's an effin cartoon for christ's sake. They also were accurate most of the time. They had more than a couple of people with PHDs in Math and Physics.

Question: It's being marketed as a full length movie ("feature"). I was under the impression it was a bunch of episodes... Am I wrong?

The four episodes are sequential, all part of the same story. However, they're written in such a way that they can be segmented into individual episodes for broadcast.

Re: Futurama is back!
I'm just so glad there will finally be NEW Futurama, I was always a big fan but Adult Swim seems to repeat the same 5 episodes over and over again even though it had multiple seasons. Finally saw the ad for the DVD last night.

Re: Futurama is back!
I dunno, within the last 6 months or so. The "same 5 episodes" is admittedly a bit of an exaggeration but they most certainly do not have the degree of variation that it should. Not even close.

Re: Futurama is back!
I don't believe young people get the reference to the majority of the jokes on Family Guy since they pertain to things older than they are. You gotta remember, the writers are in the middle age generation and write jokes about what they know which includes what they grew up on. I've seen jokes about Soap, Land of the Lost, Electric Company, etcetera that is some old school stuff. That is what I think makes it different from Fox's other prime time cartoons. You gotta have some age to get the full nuance of Family Guy.
