True, Todd Jarrett seems to do alright with a 1911

Oh and sticky, all pistol catridge have way crappy range, and are weak in comparison to rifle rounds.

.45 is an awesome round

No doubt, but i find the 45 ACP to have A lot more sway to it over 25-30 yards then a 9MM

Re: I'm in love....

they use a .45 cause it makes a bigger hole in the page so they dont have to be as accurate.

Well, since my last name is really Glock , I have to stay loyal to that brand. I like the Glock 21 myself although go with the 19 for concealed carry.

Re: I'm in love....

my XD was a POS after less than 1000 rounds..it needed a new spring, and whoever said there is no recoil is a bit deluded...if you compare it to a 44Super redhawk with a 1" barrel shooting +P loads, then maybe there isn't "that" much kick..but it shoots no better than my "stock" (19, 22, 23) glocks (that have probably close to 50,000-60,000 rounds thru them) and is not even comparable to my Kimber's...u get what you pay for I guess...

i have a buddy that carries his daily and he likes it fine, but he has not put more than 100 rounds thru it..the thing is still all "shiny"..hahahah

but I would not recommend the XD, at least the .45, to anyone...i sold mine at a gun show for $20 and felt lucky to get that much for the pig..

I'm sorry you feel that way, plenty of people can say the same for glocks and kimbers(MIM parts anybody?). There is always someone who is unhappy, and comes and shoots down a good firearm. I did not bash glocks once during this thread, they are fantastic firearms. The point of this thread was not to say "omG wtfsauce lollerberries teh xXD failz" it was about my positive experience. If you don't like it fine, but I feel like your taking a dump on my thread

I fail to see how you say the gun has a lot of recoil, it simply doesnt doesn't. Compared to a .22LR maybe. You sold your XD for $20?! Wow I somehow dont beleive that story, especialy when all that was wrong with it was a spring($7 part)? Hmm.. sounds a little strange to me. I don't think the history of man has seen a springless XD go for $20.

I want this to continue to be a DISCUSSION not an argument, so lets keep it on a good path. Gun related discussions seem to escalate quickly.

Re: I'm in love....

I have the XD 5" tactical model, a Kimber 1911, a HK USP .40 Compact, and a HK USP .45. I must say, the XD is a sweet shooter, but after about 1000 rounds through it, the back rail guide cracked and left me wondering why they didn't put metal rails in there like the HK has. It's still a great firearm. Springfield replaced the entire thing, pretty much no questions asked. Keep an eye on that, if you don't mind friendly advice. Keep that rear rail guide well lubricated too.

In all, the Kimber and HP .45 are my favorites, but the HK cost quite a bit more for something that shoots only marginally better for me. Wierd thing is, my friend carries the XD as his service piece and shoots as well as I can w/ my HK. He picks up the HK and can't hit crap. It's all personal preference, I've found.

In IPSC matches there are two categories used to score a course or fire: Major and minor. The 9mm is minor and .45 major. Shooters use whatever they want and the category is determined by velocity and bullet weight measure before the match. Most shooting organizations have similar rules to regulate bullet weight and velocity.

The relative “knock-down power” of a round is irrelevant when you’re shooting at paper targets and calibrated fall-down targets. There are other rounds used in many competition settings such as the 38super, .40, 9mm mag and I know a guy who uses light loaded .44mags in the revolver division.

Re: I'm in love....

i mistyped..i sold it for $200...it was in pieces in a box...

i certainly did not mean to "dump" on your thread..to be honest, I am not a huge fan of the glocks either..they hold up seemingly forever, and shoot fairly well without a lot of "work"...

the one i had must have been a "monday morning" gun...i did not shoot any +p loads in it, and it was completely worn out at around the 1000 round mark...i also had a very bad experience with the SW99...it was plastic junk IMHO, one of the slide carriers actually broke out of the plastic and they replaced the gun, luckily it did not come apart and blow my head off..so i sold the replacement without firing a round thru it...

sorry to be negative about the XD but the experience i had with it was not a good one, and like i said, my buddy is a local PO and he carries his everyday as a backup and he really likes his....

thanks for calling me a liar Cing.. i would edit the above post, but it won't let me..

Ah! Now you're talking about one of my favorite plinkers! I have a SW99 in .40 and have put, oh, somewhere between five and ten thousand rounds through it. If I had to peg it, I'd guess at 8,500 rounds. Not a single malfunction. Still smooth as buttah. I think there are plenty of pistols out there that will give you more for the money, but the SW99 is a fine pistol, IMO. As is the Walther, BTW.

Sorry, the tone of the rest of your post went right along with such an outrageous claim. I never thought that would be a typo.

Re: I'm in love....

the reason i got the SW99 was that with that little rubber bikini grip, it fit my hand perfectly..i got kind-of smallish girly hands and the SW99 fit great..almost as good as my old belgian browning 9mm, but there was obviously a defect in the manufacturing of the frame slide thingies and it broke out..it broke on the outside back end, so the slide kind of "spun out" and blew off to my right...which luckily was a concrete wall...the owner of the range got pics and there were several other PO's there that signed affidavits to what happened..the SW99 was Walther's attempt to make a bunch of Law Enforcment "buy" lists with their joining with Smith on the deal..i was just uber paranoid of the thing and got rid of it to a deputy that "needed a deal"..he probably still has it..

Re: I'm in love....

Ah, that sounds much better Birdie! I was very confused there for a moment
Unfortuanately all companies have some QC issues, and you seem to have been the victim.

Thanks for posting your experience

Now I just have to figure out which Glock I like better....The 17, or the 19....
I might have the answer this Saturday
