Re: NFL AFC championship game
I am not so sure about that. The final regular season game between the Giants and Patriots was fantastic to watch and wasn't decided until late in the second half. There have been some real snoozers in Super Bowl history, New England getting spanked by Chicago comes to mind.
Ever since the Giants played their full roster and didn't lay down in that final game, I have been rooting for New York to make it through the NFC to the Big Show. A lot of teams could have packed it in at half time or rested their starters for the playoffs, but the Giants gave NFL fans a great game to watch on every network. |

I definately agree about Coughlin's decison. In fact, teams are obliged to make a real attempt to win each game per a league rule. Imagine seeing a concert towards the end of a tour and most of the members site out, watching the Rodies play to avoid injury for the finale. I think it's ok to rest people who are banged up, but people are paying for this product. Imagine shelling out $500 for a pair of tickets and all you get to watch is your team's scrubs... I've done it, it sucks.... well, Fluties pooch through the uprights was pretty kewl, but I was still pissed. I think Tom coughlin made a great move which helped inspire his team and also provided a season finale that acutally lived up to the hype. I think the Giants have a real shot at winning this game. That said, I still think the Pats will win, but every game is tough in the playoffs... they get harder each game. It's hard to imagine Brady laying two eggs in a row. To me, this matchup is earily similar to the 2001 Pats matching up against the Rams. This is the biggest game the Patriots have ever played. A Patriots victory in the Superbowl would would cement the 2007 Patriots as the best football team of all time... an exclamatory crown to punctuate the greatest Dynasty ever. A loss would, to many people, demote them far lower than the 2001 Rams, the greatest show on turf, tarnishing the Dynasty, making it one of several, not first. It's ok to think that they won't be the first amongs Dynasties if they go perfect, but it's not something that many objective, knowlegable football fans will agree with. In the era of salary cap and free agency, where half the teams in a playoffs one year aren't in them the next, the Pats have acheived what no other team ever has. I'm sure there has been more than a little luck to do what they've done in an era of such parity, but it took an organization all moving in the same direction to do this. But enough talking sense, go read Greg Easterbrook or drink you favorite team's Kool Aide. I'll keep watching football in the real world. Way to represent the admins! Re: NFL AFC championship game
ITPWTSB, they will be the greatest team of all time. We can't judge dynasty vs dynasty until this one ends... how many more will Bradichick win? who knows...
