Re: Terminator:Sarah Jane Chronicles

Sarah Jane is Doctor Who's sidekick from the 80's. (And she made a guest appearance a couple seasons back. And still looks good.)

I wonder if they'll have a different release for Europe. You know, where they don't have to use creative camera work to only suggest that you arrive in a new time starkers. (I so agree with P8triot!)

Re: Terminator:Sarah Jane Chronicles

This franchise should have died after T2 (which was awesome). T3 was terrible and this TV show is even worse than that, which I didn't think was even possible. On the plus side, John's mom is hot and so is his love interes... I mean the protector terminator sent from the future, who also happens to be hot.

I'm sure Rupert Murdoch is spinning in his most unholy of graves.

Re: Terminator:Sarah Jane Chronicles

I'm not saying this show is the greatest.. Or even up with NCIS, (old) 24, or The Unit, but.. it's working the sexy factor and the action factor pretty well. The 'romantic interest' factor is too obvious off the bat.. whether they follow that track or not.

I'll keep watching it, just like I did Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, all of the SG titles, and all of the Star Trek titles.. they worked out to become an addiction for good TV (IMO).

Also tack on Comanche Moon, I'll be following that along with Chronicles. I could have SWORN I spotted Jayne (Adam Baldwin - Firefly) in Comanche Moon but I can't find him or the character I spotted him as in the credits anywhere.

LOL! Considering he doesn't have a grave...

Re: Terminator:Sarah Jane Chronicles

It's ok. Some of the writing is pretty weak, but I'm interested in the overall plotline and how they plan to clean up the massive continuity violations (if at all).

Re: Terminator:Sarah Jane Chronicles

I caught the beginning last night...couldn't even be bothered to watch it in its entirety. I know that girl from 300 is hot...but she's no Linda Hamilton...not even close. For that reason alone I just can't get into this series. The characters have been completely reinvented. And the storyline isn't even consistent with T1 and T2, the only Terminator movies that count. T3 was rubbish. So is this series. :P

Re: Terminator:Sarah Jane Chronicles

Damn, when I went to record it a week before it wasn't in the DVR's directory yet and then I went and forgot about it. Oh well, I can always watch it online. Although, with these mixed reviews I'll go in with low expectations.

And I have to agree, T2 was better than T1, but T3 was a waste of celluloid. Much the same pattern as the Aliens' franchise...it's pretty tough to top, or even match, Cameron.

Re: Terminator:Sarah Jane Chronicles

Yeah, but with the time travel, they can change anything they want. Just like they mentioned how she died of cancer, but apparently they went back and saved her from it, since she was dead in T3. This even said John Conner was killed in 2005. Just anything is possible when they throw in time travel.

Re: Terminator:Sarah Jane Chronicles

Just doesn't seem conducive to good storytelling to explain away all the inconsitincies of the storyline simply by saying "It's timetravel stupid!" Seems like they could have put a little more creativity into it.

Re: Terminator:Sarah Jane Chronicles

It's not like T1 or T2 were Shakespeare. So far I'm enjoying the series, parking my brain at the door just as I do with Heroes and any other "sci-fi" show.

If I want science fiction (the good stuff), I read some Eric Flint or John Ringo. If you want a really fun read that's military-friendly, check out Ringo's new novel "Vorpal Blade". It's like Star Trek: Enterprise if it were written by someone with a clue.

Re: Terminator:Sarah Jane Chronicles

There is some new Firefly/Serenity stuff coming up. Dark Horse has a 3 issue illustrated novel series coming up starting in March. There are actually going to be some Serenity themed lunch boxes coming out and there are some holiday ornaments being delivered this Q1.. but they were in limited edition and probably sold out in preorders last November.
