Re: PS3 vs 360
I love my 360.
I think it has better games, plus the marketplace is great and organized, and the dashboard is also great.
the only reason i'd want a PS3 is for Metal Gear Solid 4, other than that, i like my 360 for GH3, Halo3, CoD4, Bioshock, the new Fable 2 that is coming out sometime in the future, and Brothers in Arms."...and they call me ready to deploy, engage and destroy, wherever you need me to be. I'm an American Warrior!"

Re: PS3 vs 360
I did partition it and installed Yellow Dog Linux on it. I also have a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse that I use when I play with the Linux side of things.
Recently, I've started to rip my DVD collection in Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum and have been using TVersity to stream that up to my PS3. I'd love to get the bulk of my collection ripped so I don't have to fuss with the DVDs any more. Considering that I have close to 400 movies now, that will take a while.

The only reason I'd want a 360 is for Too Human. Silicon Knights always make awesome games.

Re: PS3 vs 360
I did try streaming to my 360 but it's not DNLA compliant so it doesn't play well with other devices that expect a proper DNLA implementation. Oddly enough, that's why I think the PS3 is far better at integrating with a home theater. The 360 just wasn't cutting it. Luckily, I have both.
The different in gaming isn't that great, but I have said before that I think the PS3's graphics are better but the 360's online experience is more polished. I'm waiting to see what Home has to offer once it's released.
I do hope that Microsoft doesn't pull the same crap they did with the original Xbox and cancel it after 4 years. I didn't pay that much money to have the thing reaching its EOL that quick.

Re: PS3 vs 360
As a side note; another great thing about the PS3 is that they are supporting user-made content. IE: Maps and add-ons for Unreal Tournament can be added onto the PS3. I need to verify this, but I also recall it being cross-platform compatible with the PC. So maps made for the PC can be played on the PS3 in multiplayer fashion.
I've asked this before, but I'm very curious how many people prefer one or the other TRULY have experienced or own both consoles? It's easy to like the one you have and dislike the other one, especially with only minimal contact. Many of the negatives I've seen about BOTH consoles are based primarily on lack of exposure or reading fansites than actual experience. Much of what I've seen is just downright false.

Re: PS3 vs 360
My roommate has a PS3 and I got my girlfriend an xbox 360 for christmas and I'd say I prefer the 360 so far. Maybe it's petty, but I find the 360 controller a LOT better than the PS3 one.
I like the wide game selection the 360 has -- after all, it's the games that make or break the thing. That said, there are a few cool looking games that are PS3 only. I'll tell you what I think of Drake's Fortune when my roommate gets it in a couple of days.

Re: PS3 vs 360
I don't think that's petty at all, but it's easily resolved. Logitech makes a controller for the PS3 that feels VERY much like the 360 controller. The PS3 controller can feel a bit small depending on the game.
As for the game selection itself, that's just a matter of time. The 360 has a year head start and that will obviously give it a greater selection of games right now. That's similar to complaining about the volume of aftermarket accessories for the 2008 Accord vs. the 2004.
I think if you were to make a long-term gaming decision based on content available right now, that would be a very poorly made decision.

Re: PS3 vs 360
I think PS3. Although its expensive you dont have to pay for multiplayer, and the games are quite good. However there are disadvantages but either way id stick with ps3

Re: PS3 vs 360
I agree with you that it'll soon even out, but at the same time, who wants to spend a few hundred bucks and not get full use out of it?
don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the ps3. It works beautifully, I imagine it's nice to have the built in blu-ray, etc. Personally, I might have gotten my girlfriend a PS3 if it were as cheap as the Xbox as she's done a few games that are PS3 only and not any that are Xbox only (though the majority are for both consoles). My disposable income being what it is, I got her the Xbox.
