im looking for a new single player game

so i took a few weeks off of online gaming to play through some of the stack of single player games i buy, play the first few levels, and toss down to go back to multiplayer games... i like games with a good(great) story to it, and just blew through HL2, and ep1 and ep2, and portal. bioshock, crysis(single player kinda sucks...multiplayer really sucks) i have a computer(duh), ps3(2...1...) WII, 360(but im probably getting rid of it, i dont like it much) so i can play any current gen of platform the games are on... any genre is good too.

o, and single player only, i have enough multiplayer games to juggle =D

The singleplayer in COD4 was amazing though short. Magnum did a great write up for it.

For the PS3 I would recommend Uncharted: Drakes Fortune.

I should probably assume that you have already played the Metal Gear Solid series seeing as you have all three Playstations but if you haven't I highly recommend those three games.

It's not exactly new, but you might consider Oblivion. I've never liked RPG games per-se, but I picked up Morrowind (Oblivion's predecessor) and enjoyed it greatly. It's basically an RPG with free-form gameplay (the main quest is only about 20% of the overall content) and it plays first-person (unless you switch to third-person deliberately)

Also old, Deus Ex and Deus Ex 2 were epic and okay, respectively.

I don't really play many solo games. Just the ones that pwn.

I second the Deus Ex!

It is what turned me on to FPS gaming. I stayed up for 48 hours (ok... I slept for 2-3 hours each night) playing that game through... first on the easiest setting, then on the hardest... I was nauseous when I was done, but it was.... EPIC.

orange box was great, every single game... oblivion was a pretty fun game, but the story was kinda lame. I will probably get Deus Ex (its on steam) and see how that one is, will look into s.t.a.l.k.e.r. as well as Drake's Fortune

Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 and their expansions, then download the tutu mod so you can play them all in the Baldurs Gate 2's engine. There is nothing that beats it in terms of good storyline, in my opion.

Stalker is fun, but I haven't had the time to get too far into it. I'm looking forward to the "Clear Sky" Expansion too. Has some pretty good scary points, plus the whole story of Chernobyl is pretty interesting.

Oblivion I got for the PS3 and played a good deal of for a few weeks, then stopped. Just got Devil May Cry 4 last night, I'd have played it further if I wasn't so freaking tired last night, but thus far It's pretty good.

Deus Ex was an awesome game... Invisible war left some to be desired, but it was decent in it's own right. Out of the two, the original is the better as far as story, but 2 blows it away in terms of graphics. Either way, if they make a Deus Ex 3, It's already been sold to me.

Been looking for good SP games recently... Been difficult. Got Doom3 and GISH on Steam this past weekend, but neither are fantastic

If you happen to have a GameCube/Wii lying around, the Metroid Prime series is a good one to check out.

Hell, if you haven't done so already, look for Super Metroid. It's on the Virtual Console, but if you're lucky enough, perhaps there's a ROM lying around or a GameTap version...

based on magnums review of cod4 I picked up the single player. I think it is great. it is on part with cod1. I have heard many great things about the witcher.
