Web site creation
My parents own a business and my dad insists on having a website. So i come to you guys to help me decide on a company to use. They just need something simple 5-6 pages, no database, no sql crap. Just a simple What you see is what you get setup. Something my mom can throw together and get going.
Any suggestions on reputable companies. Money isn't the issue with this, if they are a good company that will help them out. |

IE you have those interested come up with a content demo for you guys to look over. THEN you decide which one you'd like to hire as your full design guy. THERE are tons of talented ppl on here for both graphical and site design. Theres a suggestion, for an addition to the trading posts. A "Hire a gamer" forum for tg peeps to exhange services. Hell I'd be willing to give tg 10% or similar of any business generated from here :P for example |

Re: Web site creation
As far as hosting goes, there are a lot of us that have our own boxes too.

Re: Web site creation
My wife went with Yahoo to host her company's website. She and a friend designed it. There are probably cheaper hosts out there, but she wanted a big company that she knew would not be going out of business anytime soon... And their package deals are pretty reasonable.

I can only recommend GoDaddy for web site hosting as its the only one I've found to be cheap AND stable. Despite their name sounding like a porn site and with a horrendously massive amount of useless optional 'crap' in the shopping cart, its decent.
I don't want to brag, but I do consider myself a web designer of some note. Sadly I have no current examples of my work up for display yet (I'm actualy working on such a site as I type). I've actually been searching for some small jobs, because I haven't any actual experience creating/designing websites for other than myself and my myriad of pipe-dreams. I am particularly partial to 'simple' websites as you say and I believe I am allergic to 'real' programming (but I can suffer thru it).Anyway, I know you were asking for a company, but I can't really recommend a place. But I do know a place locally (for me) that I've been trying to get a job with: BitSculptor http://www.bitsculptor.com/Default.asp I can vouch for their websites, since many of the local schools and many out-of-state businesses have contracted them. But if all you need is a web page that has text provided for the content (ie. the web designer doesn't have to write the content) and those other niceties (pictures, CSS, accessibility) with well-structured HTML and good, easy to understand comments, I'd recommend me or I'm sure many other TG'ers who have these same skills. Anyhow, PM me if you would like to ask me something about what I could do (I'd probably do this for free or very cheaply, because I am trying to build up a portfolio) Thanks.

Re: Web site creation
You might want to find a site to emulate. "I want a site like that one."
To say "I want 5-6 pages" sounds a lot like when some older relative would come up to me ten years ago and say she wants a computer, what should she get? It all depends on what you're going to do with it.
