Re: Thinking about joining the army
Would my asvab scores be suitable for that job or would I need to retake it?

Re: Thinking about joining the army
My goal is to become a fighter pilot. So while I'm in college on base I will try my best to be at the top of my class. Then when I get my degree I will enter officer candidate school and then flight training. And hopefully if there is a pilot slot open I will try my hardest to get that slot and the get assigned to a wing that flies either f15, f22, f16s or even a10s

Re: Thinking about joining the army
Wow, this thread hurts my head. 1st off a day ago you wanted to do something exotic and cool by going Army Special Special Operations. Than, for some reason you decide to go into the Air Force. Than be electronics tech. Now you want to be a fighter pilot.
I really would consider taking a step back and figuring out what do you really want out of life and than ask for our help.
Answer us these couple of questions than we may be able to help you:
1. Do you want to college now (if not why) and can you afford it?
2. Is the military really for you?
3. How long will you stay in the military, if you joined?
4. What are your short and long term goals in life?
5. What are you willing to do to get to your goals in life?
None of the choices you mentioned in life is easy to obtain and no matter what you choose you will have to work hard towards. The military life style is not a decision you make on a whim or take lightly and you should really consider if a long term commitment is for you when you change your mind so quick as it is...The Meek shall inherit the earth..... after we're through with it!

Re: Thinking about joining the army
Avionics requires a very high ASVAB score. I got 95+s all around so it was never an issue, but I think you need an electrical skill of 75 or so. Us pointyheads are smart cookies

I take it you just went to take the ASVAB without any prep - just go grab a book at the library and give it a read, and for god's sakes don't skip anything. The whole test only takes like 15 minutes, if that.

Re: Thinking about joining the army
Have you talked to a recruiter yet? They tend to answer some of your basic questions with a great deal of honesty. Now specific job duties and enlistement contracts... talk to someone else

Re: Thinking about joining the army
99% of what recruiters say is bull****, mainly because they don't know. Don't bother asking about flightline if your recruiter has never even had a line badge. My recruiter worked with nukes at Minot AFB his whole career and lived in a silo, and didn't know a god damn thing about the Air Force.

Get your degree first -- after 4 years you might realize that being in the army isn't like playing BF2 and that there will be no magic medic with jesus shock paddles....
If you still want to go after that, thank you for your service, always carry extra mags.|TG|Switch
