OOhhh...Those recruiters aren’t going to like that! Gotta meet the quota now. Just sign like a good automaton.

No joke, its like that hard -ell at a used car dealership, DO NOT sign before you think.

I cannot believe I took the opportunity TWICE to help out in this thread. This thread is now to the point of being a waste of cyberspace with the all the nonsense and indecision going on.

Here is a simple equation military= hard work X crappy pay. You do not join the military to get rich by making 40k a month or pay for your college, you do it because you feel a obligation or commitment to serve your country. You may be one of those select few who hear this as your calling in life, if not that is ok too.

Take some time and really think about what you want out of life and where you fit in best as a productive part of society and then plan for the end state.

Re: Thinking about joining the army

There is a stereotype among the anti-military that the military is just a place for poor people to be used and discarded as cannon fodder. Overzealous quota-driven recruiters will only perpetuate that stereotype.

Those who hang around forums like TG and MA will come to realize that the stereotype isn't true, but the vast majority of the public have no erudite counter-examples to prove it wrong.

Don't forget that every flight starts and ends with the maintainers. You'll be able to hear me just fine when I happily inform you over the ICS that you're "clear to kill #1" (followed by #2, of course) because of "flight controls out of tolerance" (or whatever else I want to make up (What's that? Mode 4 rekey? SHUT 'ER DOWN!)). Or I'll piss on your MLG and call it a fuel leak (Then watch you sniff it).

Hmmm, lets take a closer look at this. If you look at Twiggy's previous posts we see that he first wants to join the Navy, then we have this post about wanting to join the Army, now in this same post he wants to join the Air Force, and there is also a thread out there where he wants to be a TG Admin or Moderator because he's a mod on the BF2 forums and on two other forum sites. Am I seeing a trend here? I'm beginning to think that he's lonely or just wants to be a part of something or... Anything.

There are many former military personel that believe it is "for poor people to be used and discarded as cannon fodder."

As far as my friends go, I'll take a poor soldier over a rich doctor or snobby CEO any day. It take courage and heart to be a soldier and fight for what you believe in. Any monkey with an education can become an unethical jackass.
