MP4 Converter

Hey everyone, i wanted to know if anyone here knows of a link/site where i can download a program that converts movie files into MP4 format? I look all over google but i either have to Buy it or the trial of it only converts 60% of the file.... If anyone can post a link to a free converter that converts 100%, that'd be great, thanks everyone!
