38 Studios snags to use the UE3 engine.
Are studios getting that lazy to create their own graphics engine? Can't they use a different engine or create their own? The UE3 engine is getting old.

UE3 engine is becoming a standard. It's a great flexible engine. At least this way, most people can tell ahead of time if they can run these games coming out on the engine.

Re: 38 Studios snags to use the UE3 engine.
Speaking as someone who works in the gaming industry, a studio who claims to be able to (or wants to) create their own graphics engine will most likely not get funding today. There are way to many business risks associated with this. Its not an easy technology to get right. It takes a lot of time away from actual content development. Lastly, most who try to do this, fail, because there are only a few Carmacks around.
