Hmm, the bike that was been stolen from me. If I could throttle the person responsible I would.
Had a bike my freshmen year (high school) chained outside of the library while I was inside doing some research. Came back 2 hours later to find it missing. I lost the bike which was only about a year old, the chain, the lock, and the cushy seat I bought.
The other time was when I was aroused at 3 am by my father who thought I had left the garage open. I assured him I did no such thing. I find out later that he had bought my siblings and I three aluminum dual suspension mountain bikes and that all three were stolen.
Of course, police reports were filed, but never saw the bikes again.

I've never had anything really stolen from me. Especially, in the little town I live in. About 30 minutes outside of Pittsburgh, PA. The only thing that I remember being stolen from me was my $5 tip that was left on the table for me when I worked at Ponderosa as a server many years back...(sorry for never ending sentence)...Guess I'm lucky or now jinxed.

You've clearly never been to Philadelphia... Man I just love the racial commentary!
My old ride-on mower was stolen from my yard about two years ago. Parked it in the driveway while I went to the store and when I came back it was gone. Thieves are the lowest of the low, if I ever caught someone stealing my stuff boy would I have a field day.

Re: why must people break into my house?
I grew up in San Antonio, so needless to say, all my friends and I had at least 1 bike stolen growing up. Seriously, my friends and I were riding our bikes, there was NO ONE around on my quiet little street. We ran into my house for to grab a glass of water, came right back out with the water (since my mom kicked us all out instantly), and my buddy's brand new bike was gone. We couldn't have been in the house for more than 30 seconds. There was no one in sight when we went in, and no one in sight when we came out. Stupid ninjas.
So my friend always liked the commonly used joke, "What did the little Mexican boy get for Christmas?.........My Bike!" (No offense to Mexicans here...just a quoted joke that was relevant to SA)
Puppies were also commonly stolen in my area. Also, about 2 years ago, all my patio furniture was stolen, along with my potted plants. All the neighbors had their plants stolen too in the same night. There was even entire friggin' trees missing in the neighborhood. It was a new neighborhood so the trees were newly planted and easy to uproot. Seriously, some people have sad pathetic lives when they resort to stealing puppies and plants."Common sense is not so common." -Voltaire

Re: why must people break into my house?
This doesn't have to do anything with me, but my friends car was stolen when his mom went in the garage to grab her coffee and shut the garage door, when she turned around, the car was off and gone. It's weird because i live in a small town where not much stealing has happened for a while. O well. I guess thieves are like birds and migrate south for the winter (if they live in Canada that works, so its canadian geese lol).

Re: why must people break into my house?
They found one of my hand guns! sadly it is the least valuable of them all. I wont get it back until the Detroit police have some fun with it, so it should be a couple of months. Amazing how people with coke problems will take all your stuff isn't it?
05-28-2008, 02:46 PM #28Re: why must people break into my house?
I had my car stolen right outside my apartment window by a homeless man. It was the middle of winter so I was sitting in my car waiting for it to warm up and was going to leave for work but I forgot my cell inside and ran in to get it (30 seconds tops). So naturally the door was unlocked and keys in the ignition while running (come on we've all done this).
I grab my phone inside and happen to peer out my window to see some guy pandering around my car and then opening the door to get into it. So after some very loud expletives I dart out my door and into the parking lot after him and I get the drivers door open and almost yanked him out of the seat before he floored it and almost dropped the engine (it was a crappy car). So he speeds off and gets away...
I call the cops and 3 days later I get a call about 7am that they've found my car out of gas in the middle of the street during morning rush hour. The guy must have been idling it the entire time for heat and ran out of gas. It's cool though, he left all his worldly possessions strewn about the car, including a Cher cd, a mini disco ball in the rear view, and a toothbrush. So it wasn't all bad, at least I got some free stuff.

Glad they found one of your guns! Let's hope they find the rest before anything bad happens to them...

Re: why must people break into my house?
I bet it also helps to drive a car with a manual transmission. It at least rules out the thieves of the majority of the population that doesn't know how to drive one. And if you don't know how to drive one, then shame on you! What kind of tactical driver are you anyhow? Just kidding. I think it has helped my odds with car theft, though.
