I don't have a German car, but I love driving them. You just can't beat German engineering for a great driving car. There's a certain feel to them that is hard to explain. Solid is one word I could use. Feeling at one with the car is something the Germans have perfected. In fact, my next car will be a Porsche 911. It will take me a LONG time to save up the cash for it, and it will be a VERY used Porsche, but I will settle for nothing less. I'm tired of front wheel drive cars, but plan to drive my Mazda 3 til the wheels fall off. The Porsche will be my toy. I used to work at a Porsche dealership when I was younger and became very very spoiled and appreciative of the fine German craftsmanship.

Not that much. But look at Autotrader.com and do a nationwide search for Porsche 911's from all years and from cheapest to most expensive, and you'll see that a used Porsche can be had for much cheaper than the average new car. I don't care if it's 10 years old or has a million miles. As long as it's in good shape (which isn't hard to find in this caliber car). I don't have a car payment any more (just paid off my 2004 Mazda with 123,000 miles last month). If I keep paying myself a car payment, instead of on a loan, I can easily obtain the Porsche I want within the length of an average car loan. So I'm not rich or anything, but I have patience on my side. I will wait as long as I have to. She will be mine...oh yes...she will be mine.

But why do you really want this car? And please spare me the bs like oh yah it handles well, great acc, steering cornering... We all know thats not why... Is it to attract chicks/ guys/ diferent species?

dont you think it would be wise to get a new civic with soaring gas prices?

dont you think you would be better off building just one well in africa - say in chad?
Wow, Aoiki. I know you are new here. Welcome to the great gaming community that is Tactical Gamer. But, I can't help but notice that all your posts have been fairly negative. Cheer up. This is meant to be a positive thread to show our appreciation of German cars. You must remember that TG is comprised of a broad political and socio-economic spectrum. We all come from different backgrounds and have many interests. Cars/motorcycles is one of my interests.

So to answer your question, I cannot spare you the "BS" of the handling and such. That is EXACTLY why I want this car. I could care less about using to impress other people or pick up chicks. When I worked at the Porsche dealership many moons ago, I'd go to some of the Porsche Meets where Porsche owners of all types would come to the dealership late at night for a workshop, get their cars inspected by mechanics for free, grill, and socialize. There were lotsa great folks and none of them fit people's stereotypes of douchebags driving Porsches to pick up chicks. These were guys who loved their fine automobiles. Because of these meets, I got to drive some classic Porsche 356's from the 60's, and every generation 911 that's ever come out.

I know your bleeding heart would rather I spend my money on a well in Chad, but guess what? I've personally done LOTS of relief work around the world. Remember that Tsunami that hit SE Asia a few years back? Yup, I was in Sri Lanka and Thailand for that. I've been to Djibouti many times as well. I even air-evacced thousands out of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. So, NO, I won't feel the slightest bit guilty about treating myself to something nice.

I also don't care about the gas prices. Not only will my very economical Mazda 3 remain my daily driver, but a Porsche 911 gets good mpg considering it's power output. It gets 17 city/24 hwy. So it's not going to kill me to drive it here and there on the weekends. If you don't have a car, don't be jealous of people who can afford them. I bought my first car myself when I was 16. I worked my tail off after school every day so I could afford the cheap old car/insurance/gas whilst making minimum wage. So I feel sorry for no one who can't afford to drive. Besides there are buses.

You obviously haven't driven a Porsche, let alone a fine German automobile, or you would understand or appreciate the engineering that goes into them. Please go test one so you too can understand, before assuming I'm trying to attract women.

I can't imagine driving a Porsche to pick up chicks. But I could imagine hiring an escort to accompany me for the test drive, to make me look more legit as possibly a rich playboy to the salesman.

Getting a car like this is a lot like getting a good computer. How many here at TG get the hottest computer they can afford to "pick up chicks"?

Yes! I LOVE those commercials. I love the one with the lady talking about the guys ricer's hoodscoop saying, "It certainly does suck," or something like that. You know that guy in the commercials is the crazy Russian cosmonaut from Armageddon? Seriously. He's awesome.

Re: German Engineering in Da house

i was watching top gear yesterday and they showed a clip of the S-class like mine going though a test track.. DAM i knew this thing had power and handling (cause even the tiny straight 6 in mine can lift up the front 2 or 3 ft)but jeebus! i will try to find the clip because you have to see it to believe it you would never expect a tank like my car to do this kinda stuff.

around 1:10-30 is the older style like mine but the review is about the brand new one which is awesome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjuWPJzKcqM

Thanks for the heads up, but I don't have the cash for the car yet. That's cool that your S is such a beast. Hope you find that link.
