Re: Twenty Minutes Of Far Cry 2
It's probably not Optimized yet... I would give the developers of the Far Cry Series the benefit of the doubt on this one..

Re: Twenty Minutes Of Far Cry 2
Oh man... I can see myself flying in that glider, dropping off, and flamethrowing everyone in a village! Right around 14:00 is where the game starts looking stunning.

Looks pretty impressive to me, it'll be nice to be somewhere that isn't a tropical island for once.
Anyone have any idea of what the system specs are likely to be?

Re: Twenty Minutes Of Far Cry 2
kev's note: ^That last statement kinda contradicts with the other statements^* The GC 07 demo was running on a beefed up Core 2 Duo and an 8800.
* This was a pre-alpha showing meaning that the game will be even more optimized by the time it is released.
* Clint Hocking (Creative Director) stated that the game will run on a fast single core cpu and a strong DX9 graphics card
* Far Cry 2 seems to be in line with the estimated requirements for Crysis
Maximal Requirements
* CPU: E6600 Core 2 Duo
* Graphics: Nvidia 8800GTS
* RAM: 2GB
* Hard Drive Space: 6-8GB
* Optical Drive: DVD Drive
Minimum Requirements
* CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8ghz
* Graphics: Nvidia 6600 or ATI X1600 - Shader Model 2.0
* RAM: 1GB
* Hard Drive Space: 6-8GB
* Optical Drive: DVD Drive
Recommended Requirements
* CPU: Dual-Core CPU (Athlon X2 / Pentium D / Core 2 Duo)
* Graphics: Nvidia 7800GT or ATI X1800XL Pro (SM 3.0)
* RAM: 2GB+
* Hard Drive Space: 6-8GB
* Optical Drive: DVD Drive

Re: Twenty Minutes Of Far Cry 2
Just remember this is not by Crytek, hense the no mutants and Aliens, and the more likely I am to buy the game.
Look at some of the high def. vids of this game, and you will see it looks at least as good as Crysis.

Re: Twenty Minutes Of Far Cry 2
I read something somewhere (probly wiki) that said Ubisoft did some interviews with gamers and found that Carver wasn't a character that the player could connect to so they wanted to create someone new.
I also think that games without mutants and aliens are the best ones. I hated all the levels of Crysis that had aliens and thats at least half of them. The cave level especially sucked. Far Cry 2 look sooooo scchmeeexxxy though. I got a FC2 wallpaper now.

Re: Twenty Minutes Of Far Cry 2
Ubisoft just released the specs for Farcry 2:
http://kotaku.com/5034666/far-cry-2-pc-specs-revealed
Also, the FC2 dev blog is pretty good:Ubisoft just unleashed the Far Cry 2 requirements for the PC version of the open-world shooter and the minimum requirements actually aren't that bad. The recommended requirements? Don't ask, I'm still trying to get over the realization that my one-year old computer is now officially out-dated.
Minimum requirements
CPU: Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz, Pentium D 2.66 Ghz, AMD Athlon 64 3500+ or better
RAM: 1 GB
Video card: NVidia 6800 or ATI X1650 or better, Shader Model 3 required, 256 Mb of graphic memory
Media reader: DVD-ROM
Hard drive space: ~12 Gig or HD space. (tbd)
Recommended
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Family, AMD 64 X2 5200+, AMD Phenom or better
RAM: 2 GB
Video card: NVidia 8600 GTS or better, ATI X1900 or better, 512 Mb of graphic memory
Sound: 5.1 sound card recommended
Supported Video cards:
NVidia 6800, NVidia 7000 series, 8000 series, 9000 series, 200 series. 8800M and 8700M supported for laptops. ATI X1650 – 1950 series , HD2000 series , HD3000 series , HD4000 series .
Who here has the PC muscle-power to run Far Cry 2 at full optimization? I'm just shy with an AMD Athlon Dual Core 4600+ processor.

Re: Twenty Minutes Of Far Cry 2
Heh, so close, my lowly 4400+ started showing its age with Crysis pretty quickly! Gotta get around to OCing it, should be good for a bit if things go well.
I've been trying to stay away from news on this game a bit because of how disappointed I was with Crysis, but I hope FC2 turns out as good as it seems.
