Re: Ooops - Military bloopers
Great videos! Especially the ending to the first one.
This was a suggested video off one of the videos and it had me cracking up...

@draeh
You beat me to it. I was just about to post that. It is one of the best videos I have ever seen on Youtube and I have watched it at least 50 times, and it still makes me laugh.
I think it is because I have spent a lot of time in mud like that and lost a lot of shoes to the Mud Gods.
Best part is when their PFD senses they are wet and blow up. Funny as hell.
Now that I am older and took lots of Biology classes in college, I can't stop thinking about how many intestinal parasites is in all that mud, and how the hook worms, pin worms, tape worms, flukes, etc. are going to be loving the inside of their intestines. Mmmmm.......Yummy.

How common is that for airdrops to go wrong? In any circumstances,

Re: Ooops - Military bloopers
Pretty easy...
In my squadron, we have a special Airborne unit who jumps with their equipment needed to repair airfield craters. I have seen armored Bobcats and track dump trucks plummet to the ground and fold over like a pancake. But it isn't really all that common, but I have seen it happen before.

Re: Ooops - Military bloopers
I wish I had half the **** that we've had happen at work on video...
Just a couple days ago, I was with a guy moving a LANTIRN Nav pod:

He ran over a grounding point, the strap gave way, and the pod went SAILING through the air, bounced off the flightline, and went sliding about 15 feet. It looked so funny lying on the ground...

Re: Ooops - Military bloopers
That would suck. I have this sinking feeling that if your bobcat bit it, you probably have to do it with a shovel and then fill out paperwork to explain why you didn't bring the bobcat home.

Re: Ooops - Military bloopers
I know pretty much next to nothing about artillery pieces. However, I know I've never seen anyone load it from behind the chamber, they're usually sliding the rounds in standing just to the side. Something tells me that the dude was standing where he shouldn't have been, even if it was an equipment malfunction.
