Re: Favorite Movie?
The Good the Bad and the Ugly
Hands down! Brilliently different charaters all with their own goals lots of action and story all the way through and then the most intense standoff at the end. What could be better than a western with this much double crossing I ask you ?

Re: Favorite Movie?
wow.... I have a few favorites:
miniseries: band of brothers.
I became a huge WWII buff from MOHAA and BoB. seeing the same scenes in both and the story lines (not to mention the history, military, and discovery channel shows on WWII) just drew me in. BoB is probably the best war film of all time.
Sci-Fi movie: the matrix. (VERY CLOSE SECOND: Stargate)
classic. the perfect movie. the sequels were great too, but the original is jaw dropping.
psych thriller: Saw 1-4. I love these movies. every one blew my mind at the end when all the pieces fell together.
comedy: airplane. the funniest movie ever made. I can quote most of it, but still laugh hysterically all the way through.
date movie: Sliver. I never ACTUALLY watched the movie, but I must say it was the best time I ever had in a movie theater.
sorry to have so many, but you cannot narrow down a lifetime of inspiring moments to one.

Re: Favorite Movie?
The Lord of the Rings Series
Reason: It's a great book with a good storyline. I think that Peter Jackson, the actors, costume designers, Weta Workshop, etc. did a great job in making Tolkien's super immersive and detailed world come to life.

Re: Favorite Movie?
The Untouchables.
Big time cast, great storyline, outstanding camera work. I love this one so much because while there are the standard style gangster movie gun fights, the meat of the story is the lives of the people involved. You see the cost of both running a mob operation, and running an operation to bring down the mob.

Definitely a great film. Some parts (especially the end) are so over the top but in a good way.

Re: Favorite Movie?
Hard decision to make, I can't give you just one, so here are a few
The last of the mohicans: the star, Daniel Day Lewis, what can I say, he is an amazing actor, and really plays it like the book, which I love. The story, the history, the scenery, and the amazing musical score that still gets the hairs on my neck standing!
All the James Bonds that had Sean Connery in them, the man is a personal favourite of mine. And on that note, casino royale was amazing, though it took a few viewings to appreciate it. But a blonde bond?....

Not to mention the amount of technological breakthrough that THX and Industrial Light and Magic have brought to the movie industry. Story telling will never be the same as it is in Star Wars.
Nothing will ever compare to being 5 years old and seeing Star Wars for the first time. Nothing.

Star Wars!
The opening scene was awesome. The special effects...nothing like it had been done before. The story line was great. The good guys against the bad guys.
I took my 5 and 3 years old sons to see it.

Re: Favorite Movie?
Sci-fi: Serenity, I loved the Firefly series and this movie got me into it.
My favorite has to be The Green Mile. Michael Clarke Duncan (the gentle giant) just cracks me up when he is standing next to all the little people.

Re: Favorite Movie?
War - Tears of the sun
the movie is quite interesting and even if i watch it over and over again i will never find my dislike for it, i choose this movie and category because it emphasize the importance of life, and the result of the war is both failure on both side, deaths, casualties and damage of property.

Re: Favorite Movie?
We Were Soldiers.
It was easily the most well rounded war movie I've ever seen (with Saving Private Ryan being a close second). The action was great and it covers a war which hadn't gotten a lot of movie coverage.

Re: Favorite Movie?
My favorite movie is The Princess Bride. It has comedy, action, and some truly endearing moments. Not to mention a very nice solo guitar piece by Mark Knopfler.
