Good Cop Movies (not real life, hollywood made)
Now i could go on and on with this topic, because the Police Genre in movies is very wide and open to different genre's in itself, but I am talking about Police movies without too much craziness (exit tango and cash, demolition man, and all the police academy movies).
Die hard, is one of my favorite movies of all time, and you could label it in the cop genre, however i am not going to put it in this genre, personally, i feel this movie created the Police vs. Terrorist genre that has been able to create a whole new set of movies in itself.
So back on track....Cop movies, Like Lethal Weapon, Dirty Harry, The French Connection, and one movie that I really recommend you all the take a watch at, it is called "Internal Affairs", starring Richard Gere, Andy Garcia, Nancy Travis, and the woman who played Rosanne's sister on Rosanne, and annabelle sciorra (i spelled her name completely wrong), billy baldwin also makes an appearance.
This movie in my mind is awesome, A) it is right before Gere decided not to curse anymore B) He plays a villian, and a good one too. C) Andy Garcia does a good job as playing a cop, and all the strings that come with it.
I agree with ebert and roeper's review, this movie messes with the mind and shows the darkside of the job, it is street smart and the language used in the movie isn't blown overboard to gain the audience's approval.
Heres the link to the review, but I recommend renting this on netflix, or blockbuster etc..

I like The Shield. And Dexter. Not movies, of course. Oh, and the X Files.

How about Alien Nation? I used to really like the show, as well as the movie, when I was a kid. A good cop show with the sci-fi element included. Thankfully it's been given the DVD treatment within the last few years, so it's not too hard to find.

Oh, yeah, Naked Gun, for sure!
My favorite line from Blazing Saddles, from Mel Brooks as the Governor leading a bunch of thugs:
