Yeah you just need to find something comfortable/practical for your needs. Think of a gun as a gaming mouse or something, you dont want a massive mouse if you have small hands or vice versa. So in this case I can understand that the sub-compact 3" would be a better choice for you. BTW the XD Springfield is a great choice and I guarantee it will not let you down.

and the 3" fit in my hand quite well. With the flush 9 rd mag, my pinky is just able to rest on the grip.. something that cannot be said for the Glock 27. My dad is ~6'3" and he liked it a lot.. with the grip extension.
