What's your favorite aerial combat movie?
I was watching The Final Countdown again today. The part where the two F-14s fly circles around the Japanese Zeros. I love those scenes. It made me want more fantastic aerial scenes. The more authentic the better.
So what is your favorite movie for aerial combat?

Re: What's your favorite aerial combat movie?
haha, that movie is ridiculous.
I can't think of any movies in particular but I like WW2 air combat much more than this modern-day fire and forget rubish.
Zeros, P-38s, P-51s, and Spitfires all the way!

Re: What's your favorite aerial combat movie?
As for my favorite scene in an aerial movie, that one in The Final Countdown beats them all!
I don't really have a specific favorite, but Sky Fighters is another good one (yes it's French, but it has some great scenes
). Battle of Britain, Tora Tora Tora, and Midway are some other great classics.
These movies always get me pumped and into thinking I'm cut out to be a fighter pilot...

Couple of good air movies:
WW I
The Blue Max
Darling Lili
WW II
Piece of Cake (TV series) flying under bridge, Flash flying upside down, can't call him crazy - he's quoting Churchill.
Battle of Britain
Midway with Sensurround (saw it in the theater)
Sink the Bismarck – torpedo attacks with biplanes

The space fighter scenes in Babylon V. The first space opera where real zero-g in-vacuum space maneuvering is used, with thrusters flipping the birds around 180 to shoot directly aft.

B5 had excellent fighter combat scenes and is still my favorite Sci-Fi show. However aerial combat tends to mean atmospheric not space.Originally Posted by ScratchMonkey

Top Gun, Stealth, and The Memphis Belle all good movies. A firing sequence in Top Gun looks identical to a firing sequence in The Final Countdown.
More WWII movies:
Command Decision
Twelve O'Clock High(just on AMC)
Twelve O'Clock High is filled with actual WWII stock film. Some from the german side.

The Documentary about Red Flag is also decent and gives the everday civilian what its like to be an Air Force Pilot.
Bat 21 - some good scenes, not real aerial combat though, and it was very far fetched but decent.
I have to think about some others i have seen, there are some decent Top Gun Scenes, though most of the major "aerial combat" scenes actually had models in place of real planes.Randy = Ace ! - Warlab

Anyone know of any movies with good footage of dirigible combat? (It takes place in the air and hence is "aerial"!)
I find jet fighter scenes dull, mostly because modern warfare isn't dog fighting but over-the-horizon missile shots, and I want to see a fight in a larger context.Dude, seriously, WHAT handkerchief?

Re: What's your favorite aerial combat movie?
my advice is to go the sci-fi route......the last starfighter, beginning of enemy mine, return of the jedi.......
There was a Roy Schneider movie where he was in a hi-tech for its time police chopper and his foe was in another chopper........Randy = Ace ! - Warlab

Iron Eagle was on AMC a few days ago, very corny but it had some good fight scenes
.
You can watch Red Flag in Hi-Def for free over at hulu.com, I recommend watching that too.
