Re: Joining the Air Force in a few months
I'm telling you. Be a loadmaster if you've been given that option. I was one for 6 years and I miss it SO bad. The aircrew lifestyle is unbeatable. I'm a civilian now, and life is SO mundane compared to my life in the Air Force flying all over the world. We were truly global. There is no way to see more of the world in the Air Force, than in this career field.

Re: Joining the Air Force in a few months
Absolutely, I heard stories of pro MMA fighters struggling with the PT at the TACP school house. Personally I don't know if I'm ready for that type of PT just yet, which is why I'm looking Army, CavScout or Civil Affairs. Once you're in they say you really have to have thick skin though since you're always with an army unit and the army doesn't respect the TACPs as one of their own. If you can get over that it definitely seems like an awesome MOS. They offer good signing and retention bonuses too. If it sounds interesting to you Barrel do a search on youtube, they have tons of TACP vids on there.

Re: Joining the Air Force in a few months
lol yea. I don't know exactly what Area 51 type stuff is, but if you want to be involved in a lot of TS information type of things then you might want to check out 37F, PsyOp, in the Army.

"Area 51" stuff. Ha! My guess is that if you want in on that sort of stuff (if it even exists), you PROBABLY need some crazy high level degree from schools you probably haven't gone to. Like as in, you might need to be as smart as Sordavie to even have a shot. And that's a compliment, Sordie. I'm actually not being sarcastic here.

Re: Joining the Air Force in a few months
I know a quite a few intel guys, Barrel. They were on the 2nd floor of my old squadron. I have a feeling you'll be sorely dissapointed in that career field. Their main job was keeping us informed about the haps around the world before sending us out on missions. We'd get our intel briefings before going anywhere. Most of their job consisted of sitting at a cubicle watching CNN and other news sources, and browsing the interweb to see what's going on. Yeah, they knew a few things beyond what was on the news, but their job seemed excruciatingly boring. One of the guys' most exciting time in the Air Force ever, was when he tagged along on a mission with us down to the middle east.
If you want to know REAL government secrets, then well, it's as simple as this commonly used phrase: "It's above your pay grade." There might be some shady secret stuff going on the govt, but I really think it's nowhere near what Hollywood makes it out to be. Their true secrets probably consist of "Hmm. I wonder where the President is going on vacation.""Common sense is not so common." -Voltaire

Re: Joining the Air Force in a few months
Damm I didnt know that, yeah that really sucks ass
Well im keeping these for sure:
1. 1A2X1 - AIRCRAFT LOADMASTER
2. 1A7X1 - AERIAL GUNNER
3. 3E9X1 - EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
I just need two more good AF SC's to complete my prospective list so when I get ready to enlist, if my ASVAB scores allow, I can get any of these jobs. If you are or was in the US Air Force then your help would be appreciated.

Re: Joining the Air Force in a few months
May I ask what kind of physical shape you're in? Because if you're in fantastic shape, you could also do Pararescue! There's also CCT's (Combat Controllers). For pararescue, you have to be a great swimmer too. The training for both is intense, but the jobs are insanely cool.
Pararescuemen are the ones who the SEALS and such call for help!
