You could later give PJs and TACPs a shot after you've tasted the Air Force lifestyle. You'll be in a position to either sit tight in your chosen MOS because you like it, or move on to either of the two special fields because you've decided you want a bigger challenge and different lifestyle.

As for wanting a top-secret clearance: the MOS you choose to obtain one may be utterly boring, but a TS clearance is ****ing SOLID GOLD in the civilian world (it costs a reasonably large sum of money and time for a company to get an employee a Top Secret clearance) . Consider what you want out of the military (different lifestyle, a challenge, college money, marketable job skills later in life) and base your MOS choice upon that. Some MOS fields have zero civilian equivalent, and some are paths into high-paying jobs if you choose to ETS. Choose carefully, and see about talking to airmen/women who are in those jobs. Try to talk to NCOs in lieu of military newbies. They're more seasoned than the average private and less likely to sour your opinion of a job by complaining about the petty stuff.

Whatever your choice ends up being, I applaud you for joining the military.

Eh... My TOP SECRET military clearance meant nothing when I switched over to federal civilian service. Had to have an entirely new BI done and get a new SECRET clearance. It all depends on why the clearance is needed...

And where I live also has a pool that I use to get some swimming practice. I'm the type of guy that is obsessed with making my body look good. The better I look, the more chicks i get But im sure what Pararescue of any other special operations have in store for me will be difficult for me. So, when I get in the air force, I will hit up the gym once in a while and ask fellow pararescuemen what are some of the best excercises I can do to come out on the top, hell maybe even I get like a ex spec ops "personal traier" if you know what I mean

You better get in shape BEFORE, because they try and recruit PJs while you're at basic training. One of my buddies made it. The test to be considered was crazy! And btw, during basic, there will be no time to hit the gym. Things are so structured at that time, there's pretty much no personal time to do things like that. You get about 1/2 hour (if that) of "personal time" a day, but it's to do things like shine your shoes and tidy up your locker.

From what I've read you can use your "study" time to workout, they get a good amount of time to study the different handbooks that they receive. To stay in shape study the handbooks before you go and use that time to get some workouts in. Also, you can pull guard duty a lot and use that time to workout as well.

I'm definitely no expert on this, but from what I heard in regards to the FBI or CIA they usually give top priority to guys that serve in a combat MOS and even higher priority to spec ops guys. If that's what you're looking to get into I think you'll increase your chances by joining the Army. Any reason you're going USAF instead? Not trying to knock it or anything, but it might be something to look into if you're interested in being an agent once you're out.

Re: Joining the Air Force in a few months

Just a forewarning: TACP and PJ (Pararescue) wash out and into Weather.

I mean, I love weather, but take my advice: Stay away from weather

Having done physical training with PJ's and TACP while I've been here at Keesler, I can assure you that it's not something you decide; Either you ARE or you AREN'T cut out for it. It's extremely hard to maintain the physical fitness levels that AFSOC troops have.

Stay the hell away from Security Forces. Not to knock on anyone here who may be SF, but they tend to get one hell of a lot of crappy Airmen. Not only that, but they get a lot of reclasses- Airmen who fail out of other AFSC's... For example, our squadron f-up failed out of his AFSC and was sent off to SF. They're going to trust the most incompetent person I have ever known with a gun?

Steer clear. There's a lot of cockiness and excitement whilst you're in tech school, but ultimately you become an A1C Security Forces Airmen with nothing better to do but harass other Airmen...

swimming is where most special forces fail out. SO, you have a bit of an advantage there.
