    They did that test in conjunction with my alma mater. That is just one of many rocket sleds that can be found near New Mexico Tech. More specifically they worked with EMRTC. Watching one of those sleds is even more exciting in person.

    This is kinda bizarre.

    My friend just showed me this clip and, in turn, I showed it to one of my classes to discuss the important concept of relative velocity.

    And yes, the idea of relative velocity is VERY important.

    The part that follows is also on Youtube. Basically detonating explosive material on top of two metal plates to see if they'll "fuse" together.
