As for some of the best mech games of all time in my order
1. Steel Battalion
2. PC game -can't think of name - FPS where you can jump in and out of mech. You could dual weild uzis and it had online multiplayer (before most games had this) - Please help with name I know XeroEquality knows - not knowing is killing me. -> FOUND IT
SHOGO: Mobile Armor Division
Your character had some great one liners. Including telling a desk clerk "how about i kill you" - exactly what i was saying to monitor!
Better Video Review
3. Zone of the Enders 2nd runner
3. Gundam Battle Assault 3
4. Front Mission 3 for PS1 - but its really a strat game
5. Lost Planet
6. MechWarrior 2
7. Armored Core
8. Dynasty Warrior Gundam - If you love gundams
|
Yes! I loved steel battalion because to me that controller made a statement, that you don't need a keyboard and mouse to play an awesome game.

I think I might have a working copy of this game. Don't know if it will work on Vista.

Granted I haven't gotten to do combat yet and will have to miss the competition this year, I have had a blast designing and building my mechs.

Let me know if it does but I doubt it. I was going to try to look for a free download

A 100$+ proprietary peripheral controller hardly makes a statement that keyboard and mouse are less than highly adaptable control interfaces. Though, personally, i'd like to see a hybrid keyboard/controller.

I could have sworn I had it here but I don't. It was a burned copy anyway.

Re: Favorite mech game ofall time
I played the crap out of Virtual On! back in college. The on-campus pub had a fancy sit-down version of the game. I never did beat it, though.

Re: Favorite mech game ofall time
The old Battletech Simulator pods from the 80's and 90's were the best.
Here's a modern version:
(evidently these guys actually LARP out the whole routine, as in BEING a MechWarrior, not just piloting the mech) http://www.mechcorps.com/html/index.php
Back in the day they'd have these big warehouses full of these sims and you'd duke it out over LAN basically.
Here's a blast from the past:
BattleTech training video:
