Memorial Day
I'm a few days early, but lest I forget, I wanted to post something. I know we have quite a few military and military families here, and I am a part of the latter. As such, I thought I'd give us a place to remember the family and friends we've lost. If you don't want to post, please take a moment out of your day to think of those who have died in the service of their country.
Have a safe long weekend, everyone.
In memoriam

Re: Memorial Day
While the list of family and friends names who died in service are too long to list....
Please remember that while you are partaking in the Barbecue fun, tip your beer bottle to all Veterans. Please remember to thank a Vet for their service, it does make a huge difference.

Re: Memorial Day
Just want to thank every veteran and current-serving member of the military. Also to honor all who have made the ultimate sacrifice in honor to their country, it's people, and their loved ones. No better man or woman.
Good thread, thank you for posting.|TG-Irr| JWG

Re: Memorial Day
In Flanders Fields
John McCrae, 1915.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.Become a supporting member!

Re: Memorial Day
I am ignorant of this occasion as we do not have it in the UK, but i would still to add to this.
I have no family or friends of my own that i know of who died or were injured while in the line of duty so instead i would just like to add this poem written by Oscar C.A Child
We may not know how fared your soul before
Occasion came to try it by this test.
Perchance, it used on lofty wings to soar;
Again, it may have dwelt in lowly nest.
We do not know if bygone knightly strain
Impelled you then, or blood of humble clod
Defied the dread adventure to attain
The cross of honour or the peace of God.
We see but this, that when the moment came
You raised on high, then drained, the solemn cup --
The grail of death; that, touched by valour's flame,
The kindled spirit burned the body up.
My heart goes out to all those members of Tactical Gamer who have lost friends or family through Combat

Re: Memorial Day
I Stand Before You
I stand before you all today
But not one eye can see my way
My time arrived, to leave this earth
A fact so planned, to every birth
It happened where I had to go
My torch for life was so aglow
I transferred while in uniform
Protecting freedom, through a storm
Should I resent I died for you
Not on my life, red white and blue
Please help my family through each day
Tell all my friends, try not to stray
And of the country I did love
Do think of me, through God above
Your memories, brought forth this day
Send love to us, who could not stay

Have a safe weekend and Monday everyone.

Although I don't have any family in the service, I am grateful to all of the men and women in the armed forces who risk their lives for me each and every day. *gives a virtual salute*Acreo Aeneas
