Eagles - The Last Resort
It was originally the last track on the Hotel California album, and more recently appeared on Hell Freezes Over, when the band got back together.
Don Henley introduces the song in this performance with, "You've all heard of 'how the West was won'. This is 'how the West was lost'."
Lyrics:
She came from Providence, the one in Rhode Island
Where the old world shadows hang heavy in the air.
She packed her hopes and dreams like a refugee,
Just as her father came across the sea.
She heard about a place people were smilin',
They spoke about the red man's way, how they loved the land.
And they came from everywhere to the Great Divide
Seeking a place to stand or a place to hide.
Down in the crowded bars out for a good time,
Can't wait to tell you all what it's like up there.
And they called it paradise, I don't know why.
Somebody laid the mountains low while the town got high.
Then the chilly winds blew down across the desert,
Through the canyons of the coast to the Malibu
Where the pretty people play hungry for power
To light their neon way and give them things to do.
Some rich man came and raped the land, nobody caught 'em,
Put up a bunch of ugly boxes and, Jesus, people bought 'em.
And they called it paradise, the place to be,
They watched the hazy sun sinking in the sea.
You can leave it all behind and sail to Lahaina
Just like the missionaries did so many years ago.
They even brought a neon sign 'Jesus is Coming',
Brought the white man's burden down, brought the white man's reign.
Who will provide the grand design, what is yours and what is mine?
'Cause there is no more new frontier, we have got to make it here.
We satisfy our endless needs and justify our bloody deeds
In the name of destiny and in the name of God.
And you can see them there on Sunday morning
Stand up and sing about what it's like up there.
They called it paradise, I don't know why.
You call some place paradise - kiss it goodbye.Dude, seriously, WHAT handkerchief?
snooggums' density principal: "The more dense a population, the more dense a population."
Iliana: "You're a great friend but if we're ever chased by zombies I'm tripping you."

Gloria, a bit of 1960's film star chic mixed with back to basics garage rock.

PS, Over and Over, that is such a great song at a club, and the Refreshments seemed good for a young American band. Before you judge a man, try walking a mile in their shoes first. That way your a mile away and you have their shoes.

May the guessing game begin
edit; that actually didn't sound half bad, generally im of the opinion i'm a crummy guitarist.
Notes, I played the outro first.
if you can't get it from the outro, I've included the Pre-chorus and chorus at about mid way through, I switched the pickup to the bridge, messed around like two chords, and then played the pre-chorus/chorus

An incredible band.
The number one song of all time. It needs no introduction.

I was shown this by a friend of mine. If you can put aside that its hip hop and not judge it and just listen to it.. its pretty dang good and it was done on a single take.

Re: whats your favorite song ?
This is a tough one, just because well, there are so many different Genre's of music and I have so many "favorite" songs within those Genre's of Music.
One of my All Time Favorites and to this day the only Song I have sung in public (after having a few to get my courage up) is -
Wilson Pickett - Mustang Sally
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfuHgzu1Cjg
Buddy Guy Live always did a good rendition of it also

Now if you want to get into a House/Prog House/Prog Trance Discussion with me in regards to my favorite tracks etc, well...its going to be long and there are so many that I really can't narrow it down.Randy = Ace ! - Warlab
