Re: Who is better?
Cingular, one word, give me some proof, I know about recording, electronics and music. They are not unique in any sense. Please don't make sentences you can't or won't back up.
You can't use words like "absolutely revolutionized" to cover up the fact they didn't, and calling people ignorant will get you no where. Before you judge a man, try walking a mile in their shoes first. That way your a mile away and you have their shoes.

Re: Who is better?
Sure it will. I don't think you know what The Beatles did, or you wouldn't be saying what you are saying. Not knowing something means you are ignorant. That's not an insult... Enlighten yourself:

Re: Who is better?
I have personally recorded in many studios including the hit factory. And have also worked as a recording engineer. I am perfectly aware of George Martin and understand what went on in the studio. Did they invent mutitracking, the wah wah peddle, stereo recordings. No, No And NO. I really have no idea what was so important. The only thing your wiki citation claims they invented is automatic double tracking which is not used anymore. Unless you want to give the engineers credit for creating the flanger effect. i don't consider that a huge contribution and many people will dispute this claim. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flanging#Origin
I dont understand why we are discussing the recording process, something the beatles themeselves can take no credit for and would have happened with or without them.

Re: Who is better?
I think Cing hit the nail on the head here.
I'm not a musician nor a recording technician and I'm only considering the question in the realm of the Beatles & Stones.
Apart from the technical considerations there can't be much debate on the Beatles long lasting impact on mainstream culture. I guess that was my benchmark in answering the question. My mother likes the Beatles. My mother in law likes the Beatles. My Grandmother liked the Beatles. My 16 y/o likes the Beatles. My 6 y/o likes listening to the Beatles...etc ad infinitum.|TG-1st|Grunt

Re: Who is better?
just because they did fancy things, which really where not and are not fancy, doesnt make them better. Its all in marketing. Look at the video game halo. It didnt have anything new, just had a better looking box. The beatles where very marketable and they got alot of press for that reason. Like Ham said they copied alot of the american bands of the time, look at the beach boys.
The longer this thread goes on the more im leaning toward the stones, at least they can write music. The stones i would say did more for the music industry then the beatles did. The stones pushed the envelope on what was "kosher" in the world of music. The beatles just used what everyone else was doing and re-branded it.
And look at the beatles now, they dont even own their own songs anymore.that sounds like a good idea trooper.

Re: Who is better?
That's not surprising. The Monkees were designed to sound like the Beatles:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Monkees#Conception
Aspiring filmmakers Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider were inspired by the Beatles' film A Hard Day's Night to develop a television series about a fictional rock 'n' roll group.[2][3] The duo sold the idea to Screen Gems television and in September, 1965, Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter ran an ad seeking "Folk & Roll Musicians-Singers for acting roles in new TV series." As many as 400 hopefuls showed up to be considered as one of the "4 insane boys" who would be the stars of the show.[1] From this pool, four were chosen to become the fictional band The Monkees.Critics of the Monkees observed that they were simply the "prefab four", a made-for-TV knockoff of the Beatles, but the Beatles took it in stride, and made the Monkees welcome when they visited England. John Lennon publicly compared the Monkees' humor to The Marx Brothers. George Harrison praised their self-produced musical attempts, saying "When they get it all sorted out, they might turn out to be the best" (Peter Tork was later one of the musicians on Harrison's Wonderwall Music, playing Paul McCartney's five-string banjo).Dude, seriously, WHAT handkerchief?

Re: Who is better?
Without the Beatles, we wouldn't have performances like this.

You just killed my ears Scratch.
Beatles all the way. Not saying anything about rolling stones but they only had half as many "good" songs as the Beatles.

Re: Who is better?
I must be of a small breed that doesn't like The Beatles... Stones are better imo but I'm going off which style I like more.
