Medium Mine Protected Vehicle
Unveiled yesterday...
CHAMBERSBURG, PA. — On Tuesday, “The Panther” received a rock star welcome with fog, high adrenaline music, disco lights and a military escort.
The Panther, the name officially given to the new medium mine protected vehicle, soon will be shipped to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Soldiers say its addition to the U.S. Army’s line of vehicles provides much improved safety around improvised explosive devices.

They do, this design originates in South Africa and has a pretty trustworthy lineage in COIN/Bush warfare. This design and it's variants have saved many lives.

Re: Medium Mine Protected Vehicle
These are new? We had a few of these in Iraq last year. Maybe a different design. Very similar. If I recall, we had one called the "Cougar". Used it for VIP escorts due to the windows so everyone in the back could see outside.
