Re: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
"Critics" as an amorphous blob are useless. The ones that work for the big newspaper chains are artist wannabes suffering under the thumb of a publisher that must cater to the elderly who still subscribe to paper news. How likely are they to be like you? But you can find specific critics that match your own likes, particularly on the Internet.

Re: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
That's why I use RT or initial releases, later on IMDB has personal reviews.

Re: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
Movie is Great! Megan Fox is hot! The movie is alittle racey for children as the jokes were not the over the head type but more the in your face type. Language was strong for PG-13. So leave the kids at home and enjoy some of the best fight scenes to date.
PS anyone else notice the inclusion of Optimus old faithful gun from the '80s. nice touch!

Re: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
Saw it and couldnt help feeling let down a little, yes it is entertaining, but when I go to the theater it needs to be more than just that. The story was OK, but had lots of filler and unrelated scenes. At 140 min or so its long and the action was spread out. They introduced new characters that you barley got time to become invested in or even learned there names at all, too many star trek officers wearing red in this movie and not enough main character. Other than that it was decent, best scene for me was the fight in the woods, best contrast of the hole movie. A thought, dessert again? should have used an old Myan pyramid in the rain forest or somewhere else to change up the setting, felt like I was watching deleted clips form the first 1

Re: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
Lots of action, "just enough" storyline and noteworthy dialogue to say "well, it did have some storyline and dialogue in it". All in all, it was a decent flick of robots kicking the crap out of each other.
But as noted above, there were a number of sexual references in the movie. At one point I was thinking to myself "you know, it's as if they're purposely throwing so much of this in here because it seems forced". Like they're meeting some quota for breast and testicle references.

Re: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
I loved it! It is what it is - a summer action fest. It gave exactly what it promised.
For those of us who grew up in the '80s, there is nothing cooler than watching Optimus Prime take on 3 Decepticons in hand-to-hand combat in the woods!!! Friggin unbelievable. (that tidbit won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it, so no worries)I got yer Dancing With the F**&ing Stars right here!!

I saw the first and it was okay. I still don't understand how you can turn a cartoon into a full scale movie :P

Re: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
My wife and I saw it and Star Trek back-to-back last night at the drive-in for $7/ea.
It was well worth it.

Meh...
I saw it today and wasn't impressed. The cussing wasn't as bad as I was afraid of, and the special effects weren't as great as I was hoping, either. A decent action flick, but not as good as the first...Become a supporting member!

Re: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
Well, since I thought the first one was horrible, I'll be waiting to check out the new one when it hits the Redbox. There's no way it could be that much of an improvement with Michael Gay still involved. What they did with Star Trek is what they should have done with Transformers.

Re: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
Michael Bay is good for eye candy, explosions, and juvenile humor. That's about it. Plot holes, idiotic dialog, and general issues with cinematography are his bread and butter. Bad Boys was only watchable for two reasons: A. the chemistry between Smith a Lawrence and B. Tea Leoni's dynamite legs.
Not to say I didn't enjoy the first Transformers, but it's pretty sad that the best part of the movie for me involved an AC-130 rather than any autobot. Seriously, the Marines in TF1 stole that movie, along with the limited screen time John Voight had.
That said, although I enjoyed TF1 and would likely enjoy TF2 doesn't mean it's not a terrible movie. I loved Starship Troopers and it was garbage. For some reason, people seem to think an attack on something they enjoy is an attack on them personally. Let it go, it's just a movie. Ebert is blasting TF2 for good reason: the basics that make the movie are broken and he doesn't believe that tank-tops, explosions, and fart-jokes make up for that. I can't say I blame him.
As for TF2, I will be catching it on DVD, because (funnily enough) TF1 was the movie I went to see right before I decided to stop going to theaters all together.
