But i ask you.. what have a German patrol or the troops in Africa or wherever to do with the mass-murdering? These people who get scalped in the movie where normal soldiers doing their duty. And it makes me sad that people celebrate the way how they get killed... like lesser creatures.

...Its a fantasy movie. Quentin Tarintino did not mean for the movie to make people hate Germans for what they did he was just writing an amazing turn around on what happened in history. Plus you do not see very many non military Germans in this movie. I do not see your point at all...
Glad the rest of you liked it as much as I did. I also read a neat article about the sit down between Quentin Tarintino and the Nazi officer from the beginning(the name escapes me and it seems as if tg is the only site that is working at the moment.)

Re: Quintin's Bastards
I know that is just a fiction work but you at all don´t see my point. Maybe you simply can´t see it because your not dealing with that topic still today. It´s just something your not making fun of. All this bull**** is still present over here so i just react a bit to sensitive on that topic.
Well whatever

Re: Quintin's Bastards
I am aware you are German and I'm aware this movie might upset some people and how you could take it to heart, I just think it is more of a Nazi killing movie not really "Germans" per say.

Re: Quintin's Bastards
From what I gather, this move in it's depiction of Germans is no diffrent then how the Taliban says all Americas are child killing rapists, who will hunt you down and torture you just because you are a Muslim.
Racism is racism.
Hell you want a good story on the power of labels? WWII my Grand Father fought in the pacific. On some remote island they managed to detain a local for questioning. During the questioning the man was given warm blankets, food water and shelter. Not to long into the talks the local broke out in uncontrollable tears.
The night before he had killed his entire family, even their dog to 'save them' from the evil American army who was going to rape, and torture them. Or so he was lead to believe by his government. Yet there he sat being treated to food, water and medical attention.
I'm all for a shoot-em-up where the good guys win, but to de-humanize your enemy is to de-humanize yourself.
~ Draken
EDIT: Now some might think that I am looking too deep into things, that I should just sit back end enjoy a couple of good fights and just take in the action. Truth is you are probably right I should just sit back and "take it for what it is" but that requires not thinking. Personally people don't think enough for themselves as it is. You want a good shot-em-up watch Equilibrium there is a movie with great action and the ability to make people think.

Re: Quintin's Bastards
Anti-semitism wasn't invented by the Nazis, nor was it confined to Germany. Worldwide it was quite popular, if not downright socially required, prior to the fall of Hitler.
I was digging through the article here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisemitism
What I can't seem to find is what actually caused the turnaround in attitudes, at least in the West. Was it wartime anti-Nazi propaganda extended to include all anti-semites that was so successful at overturning this evil meme?

Re: Quintin's Bastards
Quite easy to explain. It was after the first WW and Germany was pretty poor and had to make payments to France and all these things. Money was worth next to nothing and there was need of an scapegoat. Since many Jewish people where rich in some ways ( like owning an own little store or trading with gold and stuff, all things that still had a worth, not like real Money ) German people started to get extremely jealous and Hitler was just using that and was hold big propaganda speeches against them that they infect the land and the people and that they where one of the reasons German people where so poor..

Re: Quintin's Bastards
I don't think it's so easy to pass off. The same anti-semitism could be found in the rest of Europe, the US, pretty much everywhere. Envy is universal.
My question is how we all stopped doing it.
